Everton plot swoop to sign Arsenal target Can Uzun

Everton are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal target and Eintracht Frankfurt star Can Uzun, as per Caught Offside.
Since moving to the Hill Dickinson Stadium from Chelsea, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has established himself as an undisputed starter in the creative midfield position.
Last season, he made 12 goal contributions in 32 appearances across all competitions. The 28-year-old has even enjoyed a promising start this campaign, scoring twice and registering a solitary assist in seven Premier League appearances.
Apart from the Englishman, Everton currently have Carlos Alcaraz as the No.10 option. However, he has struggled to break into David Moyes’ starting line-up. As a result, it appears the Toffees are planning to purchase a new midfielder.
Now, Caught Offside state that Everton have been keeping a close eye on Uzun’s development before making a potential swoop. However, Moyes’ side will have to overcome fierce competition to seal the deal as Aston Villa and Brighton and Hove Albion are also in this race.
On the other hand, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Napoli previously showed interest in him, while Arsenal are also plotting a move for him and have already held talks over a potential swoop.
But the report state that Frankfurt don’t want to let him leave unless his potential suitors trigger his £50m[€60m] release clause, with his existing deal set to run until 2029.
Battle
Arsenal don’t consider him a primary target and aren’t willing to purchase him by matching the German side’s asking price.
Uzun is a right-footed creative midfielder by trait. He has shown glimpses of his qualities in the Bundesliga in recent times, making seven goal contributions across all competitions this season.
Arsenal currently have Martin Odegaard, Eberechi Eze, Mikel Merino and Max Dowman as creative midfield options. Therefore, they don’t need to add further depth to this position unless anyone leaves.
Nevertheless, Uzun is a talented player and possesses the potential to reach the top. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal or Everton should either club purchase him.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club or the Merseyside club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services.
