Chelsea lead race to sign Liverpool target Alex Scott

Chelsea are reportedly leading the race ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign AFC Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, as per TEAMtalk.
After moving to Vitality Stadium from Bristol City, the 23-year-old initially took time to adapt to the Premier League’s physicality. However, he showed glimpses of his high potential last term, making five goal contributions across all competitions.
He even helped the Cherries qualify for the Europa League by finishing sixth in the Premier League. Having been impressed by him, several big English clubs expressed their interest in him last summer. However, Bournemouth ultimately managed to keep hold of him.
This season, Scott enjoyed a promising start, making two goal contributions in six appearances across all competitions. Having proven his worth in club football, he has secured his place in the England national team. However, he has been sidelined due to an injury in recent weeks.
Now, TEAMtalk state that Liverpool have expressed their interest in Scott after being impressed by his recent eye-catching performances. Moreover, AC Milan are also in this race, but they can’t afford to seal the deal by matching Bournemouth’s asking price.
Chelsea are currently in pole position to buy Scott, with the player tempted to move to Stamford Bridge to play alongside Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer, and managed by Xabi Alonso.

Ideally, Bournemouth don’t want to let Scott leave and are keen to tie him down to a fresh long-term contract. They have even submitted a lucrative proposal, but he has rejected the opportunity to extend his deal.
The report state that although Scott has entered the final 18 months of his current contract, Marco Rose’s side don’t want to let him leave for cheap in January and want £100m, including bonuses. Chelsea are even ready to seal the deal by matching the price tag.
Scott likes to be deployed in the box-to-box role but is also comfortable in the defensive midfield position. He has shown glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League in recent years and would be a shrewd acquisition for Chelsea should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the West London club eventually manage to secure his services by defeating Liverpool in this race.
