Arsenal are unbeaten in the UEFA Champions League three matches in and return to European Cup action after a hard-fought win in the Premier League against Liverpool last weekend to take on Slavia Praha tonight at 20:00 UK time.
Mikel Arteta could rotate his side significantly in what should be a relatively straightforward game for the Gunners against their Czech opponents, and here is a look at the playing eleven the Spaniard is likely to employ.
Goalkeeper – David Raya is expected to keep his place in between the sticks for the away team.
Defenders – Ezri Konsa and Gabriel Magalhaes have consolidated their spots as Arsenal’s primary centre backs. The duo are expected to feature in the heart of the back four together but both full backs from the Liverpool game could be rested as Ben White and Piero Hincapie might get the nod at right and left back, respectively.
Eze and Dowman start
Midfielders – Declan Rice is one of Arsenal’s most indispensable players. The Englishman is expected to play in the double pivot once again but Bruno Guimaraes might make way for Myles Lewis-Skelly to enter the picture against Slavia Praha.
Captain Martin Odegaard, who has been in very good form in this year’s Champions League may also rest with Eberechi Eze coming in as the number 10. Max Dowman could get a European Cup start on the right wing, and Noni Madueke might replace Christos Tzolis on the left flank after the Greek international has only just returned from an injury layoff.
Forward – Kai Havertz bagged the winner against Liverpool in the Premier League at the weekend but could be afforded a rest as well. Therefore, Viktor Gyokeres might replace the German international to lead the line for Arsenal.
Here is a look at the Gunners’ potential starting line-up on paper.
