Rogers and Palmer start in unchanged team: Predicted Chelsea XI vs Sunderland

Xabi Alonso: New Chelsea manager on Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer and working on 'soul' of the Blues | Football News | Sky Sports

Chelsea claimed a vital win over Manchester United last week at Stamford Bridge and are on the road in the final fixture before this month’s international break, as they face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Xabi Alonso’s men play their matchday 10 fixture of the Premier League on Sunday, November 8th, at 14:00 local time and will look to secure all three points in what will be a tricky away clash to remain in the top five in the league standings.

Here is a look at the Blues’ potential starting eleven.

Goalkeeper – Mike Penders kept a clean sheet on home soil last week and is expected to retain his place in goal for the trip to Sunderland.

Defenders – Josh Acheampong had a good game last weekend at right back and could continue in the role on Sunday, whereas Jorrel Hato’s injury means Marco Palestra might continue to feature at left back ahead of Pep Chavarria.

With Maxence Lacroix injured, Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana could round off an unchanged back four for Alonso’s outfit.

Rogers and Palmer to start once more

Midfielders – Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia played in the double pivot for Chelsea, and though there is still room for improvement in the engine room, the duo are likely to continue featuring together more often with their physicality helping against Manchester United last time. They are expected to remain in the side against Sunderland.

Likewise, Cole Palmer could continue as the attacking midfielder, with Estevao Willian and Morgan Rogers joining him higher up as the right and left wingers, respectively.

Forward – With Joao Pedro injured and expected to miss the Sunderland match, Pedro Neto could be utilised as a striker, as done in the last match, ahead of Danny Welbeck.

Here is how Chelsea’s side is expected to look on paper.
