As Barcelona went on to seal their 4th Champions League victory in their history, Manchester United could only sit and watch. So here are the player ratings for Barcelona:
Victor Valdes
Well, he did more than Van der Sar, that’s for certain. Charged off the line to make superb and acrobatic punches on two different occasions, both being successful. Much has to be said for his positioning in the build up of Wayne Rooney’s goal though, he was standing way too far to the left of the goalpost. But otherwise a decent performance.
Player Rating: 7
Daniel Alves
Way very quiet in the first half, as Manchester United dominated the game for long spells. But he burst to life in the second half, with bursting runs down the right flank. Almost got the better of the Red Devil’s defence on several occasions. A pretty good day for the Brazilian.
Player Rating: 7
Javier Mascherano
Looked very shaky during the first 10 minutes at Wembley. But he managed to find his rhythm and he justified why he was really in the First XI alongside Pique. Although it has to be said that Barcelona’s dominance meant really that he didn’t have much to do.
Player Rating:7
Gerard Pique
A very solid performance by the former Manchester United man, and as the more senior of the centerbacks, it was important that he did. He kept Manchester United at bay for the first 10 minutes almost single-handedly really.
Player Rating:8
Eric Abidal
The Frenchman needed a few minutes to find his rhythm and after that, he hardly put a foot wrong, with his dribbling getting the better of Hernandez on several occasions and his passing intact. A good return from injury for the left back.
Player Rating 7
Sergio Busquets
Tossed away his reputation as a play-actor by helping Barcelona dominate in midfield.Perhaps redeemed himself after that rather boring performance against Real Madrid where he was flying all over the place.
Player Rating: 8.
Xavi Hernandez
He was certainly surprised but what went on in the opening 10 minutes, however he began to get the rhythm of the game like only he knows how. Amazing vision to pick out Pedro for the opening goal.
Player Rating 8
Andres Iniesta
A rather quiet night for Barcelona’s playmaker as the normally big-game player in Iniesta was the most quiet of the midfield trio, without that much to offer, but when he had the ball, he was still dangerous
Player Rating: 7
Lionel Messi
What can we say? Complete mastery of football, and simply dribbling (several) rounds around the Manchester United defence. Scored his first goal on English soil in over 600 minutes. And he’s marching on to join the likes of Pele and Maradona (if he not already is on par with them)
Player Rating: 9
Pedro Rodriguez
Ice-cool finish to send Van de Sar the wrong way and brilliant movement and link-up play to keep Manchester United busy throughout the course of the match.
Player Rating: 8
David Villa
Prior to his goal, he was fairly anonymous, didn’t see the ball too often, but great running at the defence. His goal was absolutely stunning, the ball roll, the dink, the finish. Now that’s how you score a goal.
Player Rating: 8

Re Alves you say ‘…..as Manchester United dominated the game for long spells.’
Next time you decide to write a review please watch the game. The only time united were actually contributing to the game was in the first 8 mins. Their offside goal was against the run of play. It was like a cat playing with a ball of string.

You Barca fans are the on bad thing about your fantastic team. Whenever your coach or players are interviewed they hold themselves with such honour – gentlemen is the perfect word.
Then we hear the fans speak and are reminded that this great team are supported by the proletariat scum of catalunia.
