Arsenal Set For Shock £10m Striker Bid

By on June 5, 2011

With Nicklas Bendtner very likely to depart from the Emirates in the coming weeks, Arsene Wenger has now set his sighs on Tottenham Hotspur forward Jermain Defoe as an ideal replacement for the want-away Dane reports the Star.

Jermain Defoe has endured a frustrating season after being outclassed by Rafael Van der Vaart and Peter Crouch for a place in the starting lineup due to a number of lacklustre performances.

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be willing to listen to offers for their £10million-rated striker – a statement which has caught the attention of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who has expressed his desperation in adding another striker to his squad after another frustrating season in the Premier League.

Inconsistency in finding the back of the net was one of the major problems Arsenal had last season as Robin Van Persie was the only one of the strikers who has really posed a genuine goal threat to their opponents.

Therefore, Arsene Wenger believes that the arrival of England star Jermain Defoe is the perfect way to solve his problem.

Would Arsenal fans like Defoe at the Emirates?  What would Spurs fans think if the move happened? Let us know below…

Go for it. Spurs welcomed Gallas into the team so why not the other way round???
Defoe and Van Persie would be a deadly strike force.

I know we hate Spurs but why not take Defoe if they are willing to sell him as long as we get a bargain plus with Bendtner wanting out along with Denilson and the rest perhaps we can actually start challenging for trophies again, as long as Defoe doesn’t go walk about during the game especially when we play Spurs?

this season, his performances have been terrible and he’s been injured a lot. i really think there are far better strikers out there for the same price than him

Since the Season ended i have been banging on about the three players who in my opinion will substantialy improve our squad for next season.
    Joey Barton
    Jermaine Defoe

I sincerely hope there is some substance in the Defoe rumour.

It would be great to see Defoe come. I’m sure he would bag a lot of goals.

But I really want a tall holding midfielder and a good defender first.

Don’t want Defoe. He is too short. We don’t need hight. If he cannot get onto the spurs team what good is he to us. I am sure this is a rumour and nothing more. Very few English players are world class. Another example is Scot Parker he is good but not a world class midfielder and certainly not the right player. Any player Merson recommends is a player we don’t need. Again we need hight. Either way in Wenger we trust.

Defoe is nt gud enough for Arsenal. We’d rather keep Bendtner if we want to replace him with Defoe. Wenger has waited very long to see NB52 mature and wants to sell him instead of playing him. He was injured for long and didnt play many games, so how would he score? He has height and is more confident on ground than ever. If he goes, then we need someone better not Defoe

how funny. The bloke’s Tottenham through and through. Of course he’d improve an ever depleting arsenal squad. With Fab and Nas off too. This could be goodnight gooners.

hahaha at whoever of you lot think this is a serious possibility. Aside from the fact Spurs will never sell to the Arse due to the local rivalry, why would we sell a player to the club we’re most realistically going to beat to the 4th spot next season? Defoe’s far from my favourite player but I’d still worry about him benefiting Arsenal.

A more realistic target would probably be Berbatov, as part of a swap deal for Nasri. Wouldn’t make much difference to the Spurs fans: we all hate the sulking Bulgarian shit already!

i don’t care about anyone wenger need to buy. Just we need enough good players, 20years to up, defenders, midfilders, strikers, buy them all. we need them all. Cos if you buy enough players,
all of them their will perform, cos anyplayer he need to see him self stating lineup. Wenger Cos of u don’t have enough players, that why your players not take it serious, cos all of them know that, you don’t have replacement of anyone of them.
