Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen is ready for a move to Manchester City according to fellow countryman Vincent Kompany.
The 24-year old Belgian had been linked with a move to Arsenal last month, but Kompany, who has had an outstanding season for City suggested the defender is ready to move onto big things, he told goal.com
“You hear 40 names per month of players who could move to Manchester City. However, it is not a coincidence that Vertonghen is linked with the club.”
“Jan is ready to make the next step and is good enough for Manchester City. I am sure that he will succeed at his next club, regardless of whether he joins us or decides to move elsewhere. He is simply a fantastic footballer.”
The Ajax defender is already experienced at international level with 30 caps already for his country and has played over 120 games for the Dutch giants since his full debut in 2007.
