With Liverpool being mistaken as Manchester City (at least for now), spending loads of cash on players such as Phil Jones and Henderson, I am personally wondering if they can fit in at Liverpool.

Going British is certainly the main goal at Liverpool for the moment, with them targeting youthful and energetic player. Liverpool managed a mere 6th place finish this year, not really what you want from a side whom had the Premier League record titles up to this year.

No Europa League football, no Champions League football, I guess that Liverpool don’t exactly need depth for the coming season, being that there simply isn’t that much silverware to play for. Henderson, don’t get me wrong, I think he’s a class player, but he is in no way valued at 20 million pounds. That is roughly how much Suarez was bought for and roughly Luka Modric’s value right now!

In my opinion, he doesn’t (and shouldn’t even) come close to the duo mentioned above. Yes, his passing and his tackling is pretty good, but I think what Liverpool need is a livewire, someone who can light up their game and turn opponents on their heads to get behind the defence and score a goal.

That is NOT Jordan Henderson right here. But I guess it doesn’t hurt having another player in midfield. We need some backup should Steven Gerrard or Raul Meireles get injured. But apart from the price tag, he’s a class player, and although the payment was high, I will look forward to seeing him play at Anfield for next season.

And now, Phil Jones. For someone who hasn’t exactly been given his kit number, being 19 and playing for Blackburn Rovers, personally, without even seeing him play, I don’t like the sound of that. And the second fact is that I dislike the amount that Liverpool are paying for this fella too. 16 million pounds.

That’s a lot of money to put your faith in a nineteen year old who made his name with Blackburn Rovers. Many others are interested, but apparently Liverpool are leading the race for the young Englishman. From what I heard, he sounds a lot like Martin Kelly, both in build and playing style.

I just hope he isn’t a Danny Wilson. (remember him? we snapped him up from Rangers last summer, haven’t really seen him much in Liverpool colours)

How can you say Danny Wilson was a bad buy? 2M which may rise to 5M, he is young, and is already showing great signs.
Hendersons fee is actually, apparently, 13M and David Ngog, so that fee is a much better deal as I believe Ngog wasnt shining at Anfield.
And Phil Jones is a very good player, and will become a top england international. Maybe watch him before you slate him.

happy LFC are not signing him and I cant see anywhere where it says we were in for him other than the PRESS. Fuck ITK and The Scum defo needs a CB cause they were and still are fucking shocking….Barca destroyed them and gave them a lesson in Football. Football comes in a cycle so watch out Manure your times about up ! How about a bit of the blue side of the city – its not like there are manchester people actually supporting united as they all live in london anyways

Regarding phil jones I am slightly surprised as we do have Andre Wisdom, Danny Wilson, Martin Kelly & Daniel Ayala, Conor Cody may also end up playing in that position. At least the owners are backing the manager let’s ask the questions if they don’t work out not before YHWH have even kicked a ball.

firstly… im sure jones is havin a medical at manure.. and anyway i dont understand why were going for him… we should sign scott dann… hes much better value for money (£10mil), he’d be a great replacement for carra when hes moved on and hes a SCOUSER…
and secondly… henderson will be an anfield great, i know it… he’s young and has the potential to a england legend… trust me, if theres anyone to get him to show his full potential… its steve clarke and the king.. YNWA

As I’ve been saying all summer, I’ve seen nothing to suggest that Phil Jones is any better than our own Martin Kelly, and so if he is joining Man U on a big fee than that’s good news (how that works with the other big money youngster, Smalling, having recently joined, alongside Vidic who still has a good few years left in him is another matter)

Henderson on the other hand is a big upgrade over Spearing & Shelvey, and I’d be more than happy to immediately hand him Meireles’ place in a central midfield 3 alongside Gerrard and a holding midfielder.
This does mean that Aquilani (or Meireles) will definitely need to be moved on in the summer though, and the addition of Adam would leave me fretting about the formation again…

Can’t see the logic of Phil Jones at all. Can see the case for Henderson, but that valuation (£20m) is way too high when you compare him to the quality of Suarez at £23m. Either Henderson’s over-priced, or Suarez was a total bargain – I think it’s the former….

We need to bolster and deliver a rock solid, fear-inducing defence which we’re a long way from having. Up front with Suarez and Carroll I’m pretty happy with (with the exception of course of Carroll’s extortionate transfer fee! KK – are you sure about this?)

Midfield of Stevie G, Merieles, Kuyt and Maxi is looking ok. Can see Henderson being useful in there along with Lucas (on a good day), but we need to dump Aquilani (unless he’s doing something magical on loan), Jovanovic, Poulsen and Joe Cole who is total (fat) poo.

Reina is pure class, so we need to focus mostly on defence. Carra is fantastic still, but starting to age and slow down a little. We need our equivalents of John Terry and Ashley Cole. AC is the best left back in the world, and I’d have him in our team all day long – if KK’s spending big, surely worth an ask? (He’ll always just follow the cash anyway and is a fantastic player).

We need a trooper like Terry in the centre too. Kyri needs to go, as he’s a gift for our opponents when he plays. If only we’d beaten Chelski to the punch and nabbed David Luiz – what a player – everything we want Johnson to be! I’m hoping that KK can develop Johnson into the player we all want him to be, and occasionally see sparks of. Does he remind anyone of John Barnes in terms of being an occasional, over-rated talent?

That’s my ten pennies worth anyway….
