TRANSFER NEWS: Arsenal & Liverpool Battle For English Pair

By on June 8, 2011

According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal and Liverpool are fighting it out to sign both Phil Jones and Scott Dann. Arsene Wenger has made no secret he is looking to add to his defensive options for next season while Dalglish is looking to add more British talent to his squad and both have earmarked Jones and Dann as perfect signings.

Defender Jones is believed to be both Arsenal and Liverpool’s top target but it will take in excess of £15m to prize the 19-year-old away from Blackburn which may lead them to turn to Dann, who would be available at nearer £10m following birmingham’s relegation.

24-year-old Dann is a dominant defender at 6ft 5in and his no nonsense style would suit both Arsenal and Liverpool perfectly. However, he is a lifelong Liverpool fan so it’s understood they would be his preferred destination.

I love the word “battle”. Good emotive word that, not matter how nonsensical it is in respect to the transfer market.
