Man Utd lust after Fabregas, now Liverpool want Clichy. Both these Clubs are debt-ridden yet they continue spending like there’s no tomorrow. How do they do it? Should Arsenal seek to join them?

Having sold LFC to new owners we have very little debt, having sold Torres for buckets of cash we have money, all clubs have a debt, yours is over 100m at the last count wasn’t it?

Liverpool are not debt ridden Nicky and in 2011 have only paid out £13 million in transfer fees after sales and purchases have been counted. Not exactly spending like there’s no tomorrow.
Not sure about Clichy. He has the class but has fallen off over past 18 months or so. He is still only 25 years old after years of playing for Arsenal, so it’s not inconceivable that he could regain his past blistering form.

And Baines would be a better bet for both clubs. If we sign Clichy then Arsene should go for Baines. I wish we went in for him. There’s a brilliant piece on Baines’ consistency over the past 3 seasons:
