Gareth Bale Loves His Partner In Crime

By on June 11, 2011

Tottenham winger Gareth Bale has spoken highly on his partnership with left back Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

The underrated full back has been an unsung hero this season and Bale believes the Cameroon international has been a huge contributor to his own success last season. The modest Welshman said:

“Since I’ve been playing left midfield we’ve had a good understanding,” he told the club’s official website.

“We work well together and we help each other, both defending and going forward.

“It’s been good playing with Benni and hopefully we can continue to do that. He’s a good lad and he shows what he can do on the pitch, which is good for the team.”

Bale is not the only one enjoying this relationship, Assou-Ekotto said on the club’s official website

“It’s easy to play behind Gareth because he makes his right-back tired. He doesn’t need to help me a lot so he can concentrate on attack,” he said.

“Even without speaking too much on the pitch we have a good understanding and I know when he wants the ball into feet or into the space.”

I feel Ekotto will be on the bench a lot more next season because Rose proved he is a capable replacement and he noes it

I look forward to seeing Bale & Benni doing their thing again next season. They are a great partnership & I believe bale is much better when Benni is with him. COYS

I’m afraid you’re wrong Davspurs….Benni WILL be first choice left-back. However, next season Rose will be cover for Benni.

Last season Spurs had no natural cover for Benni before the emergence of Rose, hence when Bassong, Gallas and Corluka were all being used there for cover.
