REPORTS: Arsenal & Liverpool To Bid For Giant Defender

By on June 12, 2011

Arsenal and Liverpool are both set to bid for £10m rated Birmingham centre back Scott Dann, according to Sky Sports News.

The giant 6ft 5inch defender was a rock at the back for Birmingham before getting injured mid-way through the season, and the Midlands club are now resigned to losing the player after being relegated last season.

Arsene Wenger has made a new dominant centre back his priority this summer and has expressed his desire for a player with premiership experience, and Dann fits the bill.

Kenny Dalglish is also keen on the player after it looks like they have missed out on Blackburn’s Phil Jones as the Red’s continue to snap up young English talent.

Birmingham are thought to want around £10m for Dann, who is a life long Liverpool fan which must put them in pole position for his signature.

Giant? 6’5? I think you’ll find he’s 6’2 (according to Birmingham’s official website no less)

No he isn’t. FACT. They do smudge the numbers from time to time. ex. Carroll is taller than 6’3” and Ibrahimovic is shorter than 6’5”. Scott Dann however is not a hair over 6’2”.

May be he is 6-2′, but 256 lbs; that ‘ll make him giant of course.

Joking apart, even if he is, say 6-6″, are we looking for a Basketball centre or a Football CB? someone quick, nimble & athletic? I don’t think Canevaro or Baressi is over 6’, neither was Fachessitti or Bekcenbaur or Passarella.
