REPORTS: Chelsea Move Ahead Of United In Modric Chase

By on June 15, 2011

Chelsea are hoping to lure Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric to Stamford Bridge by trebling his wages.

The Sun suggests the Blues are prepared to offer the Croatian a massive bumper pay packet with reports suggesting the 25-year old could earn £130,000 a week.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp will fight to keep his creative midfielder at White Hart Lane next season, but the lure of Champions League football and a massive increase in wages could be too much to turn down.

The £30million rated maestro has been linked with a move north, with Manchester United preparing a bid. But it is the Blues who have stolen a march on United and appear determined to land their man – a Chelsea source was quoted as saying:

“Not having a manager yet won’t slow anything down.”

“There’s a hitlist of players to sign and Modric is right at the top of it.”

So according to the inadequate writer of this drivel, Modric is earning less than £45k a week. LMAO. What basis for this infantile assertion?OH,it’s in the Sun. Talk about you couldn’t make it up. Blimey didn’t know the barre; bottom was quite that low. Back to the grown up sectionm of Planet earth!!!!!!

I would p**s myself if you yids did actually have to eat your own words!! Nobody thought torres would sign for us but he did and is only a matter of time before he settles and starts terrorising defences again. And it wouldn’t surprise me if modric did have his head turned, tottenham can’t offer CL footie year in year out and challengin for silverware on many fronts. This is football and players come and go and I could quite easily see modric in the royal blue come pre season

Modric will never turn down such a lucrative offer. Think about these; champions league football, triple earning & trophy guarantee. Wait a minute! Can an ambitious human being turn down such an offer?

If he’s ambitious, why join chelski? It would be purely for the money. A bunch of 30 something has beens. Their whole squad needs an overhaul!

No manager for starters. Next man coming in might not fancy modric and he could end up in the cold. So why join?

Modric is a friend of mine. I’ve joked with him a lot over the last two years, saying he should be at Chelsea, but he always insisted “I have to be happy with what I have, otherwise I’d be continually depressed”. So I stopped teasing him about it. But he called me last night and asked me if I believed all the stuff in The Sun. I said “Of course not, they make up rubbish”. But then, to my surprise, Luka began to sob. He exclaimed “I so hoped it was true… I can barely stand another week at this place. I so wished Chelsea had made a bid”. With that he rang off. Haven’t heard from him since. Anyone know if he’s ok?

It’s ok lads! He just called to confirm he’s fine. He told me he’s over the initial disappointment and will just wait for Chelsea’s next bid. He’s confident that will be accepted after he tells Levy and Redknapp the very sight of them makes him sick to the stomach.
So it looks like it might be on.
