Man Utd new boy can’t wait to get cracking at Old Trafford

Manchester United bound Phil Jones says he can’t wait to get started at Old Trafford next season, with the Blackburn defender is set to complete a £16millon move to the Premiership champions.

The 19-year old is currently returning home from international duty after the England Under 21 team were dumped out of the European Championship after just three games. However, the starlet said he will have a break before meeting up with his future United team mates.

“I’m not sure when my first day is going to be. I have got to go home first, go on a few holidays and chill out for a little bit,” he said.

“Hopefully, I will get a call from the gaffer and I’m looking forward to that.

“Everyone knows they are one of the biggest clubs on the planet. It’s a massive move for me and I just can’t wait to get started. It’s a massive challenge.”

Despite the England team as a collective producing a poor performance, Jones himself went some way to justify the inflated price tag after three fine performances.

There were signs of encouragement for both England and United, after Jones paired up well with future team mate Chris Smalling. The pair has a terrific tournament, producing solid consistent displays, something that would have pleased future boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
