REPORTS: United Line-up Controversial Move For £30m La Liga Ace

By on June 22, 2011

Manchester United have been linked with a surprising move for Real Madrid’s Xabi Alonso. The former Liverpool maestro has been identified as a possible candidate to replace the recently retired Paul Scholes.

The 29-year was a £30million acquisition back in 2009 after he was reportedly forced out of Anfield. Radio Cadena Ser suggests Sir Alex Ferguson is preparing talks with the Xabi camp and is willing to trump his current wages in order to persuade the Spaniard to return to England.

The Spanish international is likely to reject any approach from the Red Devils, with just last month pledging his loyalty to Liverpool in an interview with the official club website.

Man Utd, as usual, in their yearly childish attempts to destroy Liverpool legends. So I heard next year they will try to get Gerrard for 250 million pounds.

who in their right frame of mind would sign a 30 year old for 30 mil? Zekk Xhai a total idiot for falling for it.

Now read it properly Marc…it doesn’t actually say anything about United buying him for 30 Million…it says he was bought for 30 million back in 2009, hence, he is a “£30m La Liga Ace”.

Exactly Marc, who is in the right frame of mind to do that? Only someone like Alex ferguson. You probably don’t know your beloved manager well enough. He will do anything to go against Liverpool. Just look at his transfer targets, with the exception of Sneijder (though it is a rather audacious bid), he bid for every player we have been looking at (Adam, Henderson, Jones, Young). He buys to deny others, not strengthen his own.

Just like anyone who has played for Liverpoo he would jump at the chance to join us. But, no from Anfield is welcome at Old Trafford. You ruined any chance you had to come to OT by playing for those fools. LOLOLOL

You are right about one thing, anyone who has played for Liverpool will jump at the chance to join Manure. However, unfortunately, players like Xabi Alonso isn’t just anyone. I don’t think he is too good as a replacement for Scholes. I can suggest a lot of “anyone”s who will replace Scholes and do much better than the overrated ball passer. Diao, Voronin, Joe Cole, Jovanovic, Cheyrou, and lots more. Take your pick.

paul scholes over rated seriously you obviously have no idea about football 10 league medals among other medals and by you saying that it must mean you know more about football than fergie all liverpool fans are the same blinkers on and their the only team on earth so pathetic.I’m not even a united fan and i’ll always admit when a player is good and scholes was outstanding it doesn’t say much for gerrard and lampard when scholes was asked back for the world cup in his mid 30s

Hes a great player and liverpool have certainly missed him the last two years but he seemed to love liverpool and i read an interview lately where he stated he would love to return there. as much asi would love him to come to old trafford i cant see it happening!

Sick to death of Scousers putting YNWA as an end of line tag.

The reason YNWA is because none of you bindippers have cars, so walking it is then!

Alonso is too old, and too slow.

If Alonso is too old, Scholes is decomposing. Anyway, Mancs always like old players, van der sar, blanc, Ronnie johnsen, giggs, scholes. Before you know it, we will all be seeing the headlines “Manchester United trumps Schalke to sign Lehmann”.

Does anybody listen to what united say about transfers united will refuse to pay big money on players over 28 because they don’t hold there value after a 4 year deal . That’s why we spend big on young players could they retain value. Stop these perfetic roumours and pls only report the truth y go for Alonso one thing for sure not at 30m could get modric nasri little bit more could get fabregas

I see no reason why united will go 4 former arch rivals star. We need young nd promisin lads 4 d future dat can match dia price nd value. So pls d rumours of linkin Alonso wit d red devils.

Precisely, Manchester united has really good talents in Fletcher, Cleverley, Welbeck, Diouf, Macheda, Smalling, Gibson, Rafael and Fabio. There is really no need to bring in new players, the debt should come first.

Gibson instead of nasri, that seems a more likely lineup. Oh and you forgot lindergaard as GK.
