TRANSFER NEWS: Premiership Giants Offered £20m La Liga Midfielder

By on June 22, 2011

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is to revive his interest in Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra, but could face competition from premiership rivals.

The United camp have kept close tabs on the Frenchman as Fergie sought after a defensive midfielder to replace the recently released Owen Hargreaves, but the 26-year old was never the preferred choice.

With United set to miss out on AS Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi and Rennes youngster Yann M’Vila, United will turn this attention to the former Pompey man.

The La Liga giants have also invited former clubs Chelsea and Arsenal, as well as Tottenham, to submit bits for the combative midfielder. The French international cost Real Madrid around £20million back in 2009 and will want to recoup as much as they paid for the tough tackling midfielder.

Diarra will likely cost anyone some. Real will set the price high, so you can bet Arsenal won’t get him. And I don’t think that’s bad.

He(Lassana Diarra) is not all that creative and more of the defensive minded and we have the likes of Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher to fill in that space, so we(Man Utd) need someone creative that will improve our performance both home, away and in Europe, the likes of Sniejder, Modric, Nasri, Eriksen, Mata, Goetze
