By on June 24, 2011

Arsenal have signed Ricardo Alvarez, according to several reports this afternoon.

The Gunners have been chasing the South American for some time and according to Maurizio Zamparini, the president of Italian outfit Palermo, the North London club have already secured his signature. Palermo have been linked with Alvarez in recent weeks but it now seems they have missed out on his signature.

Zamparini is quoted on Tuttosport as saying:

“Alvarez? We had a specific interest  in hand as early as January. Unfortunately, our mistake we did a quick run at the moment and he has already signed for the ‘Arsenal’. “

Captaincy and club succes has a link. After the Tony Adams era, we have had Viera, Henry and Fabregas all captains who wanted to leave for Barca. Could you image Tony Adams, Roy Kean, John Terry not proud to captain their teams.
