REPORTS: Modric To Cash In And Stay At White Hart Lane

Luka Modric is to become the highest paid player in Tottenham’s history. The Mail on Sunday suggests Spurs will make the Croatian the top earner at White Hart Lane but only if signs a new long term deal with the North London club.

The 25-year old has already told the club he wants to join Chelsea, but both Harry Redknapp and Daniel Levy remain defiant in their stance and both insist the player will not be sold.

The talented midfielder will be offered a double your money deal to stay on at the Lane. Levy has already informed Redknapp that players will have to be sold this summer in order to fund new faces at the club, but the Chairman insists the likes of Lennon, Bale and Modric will not be sold at any price. Redknapp said:

“There is nothing happening in the transfer market.

“I need to sell four or five players to bring in funds.

“The chairman has made it clear we need to move a few players before we can start doing any business.

“I keep seeing us linked with this player and that, but unless we reduce our squad numbers we will stay quiet in the market.”

Exactly, Sid. Stop talking about it and start ridding us of the deadwood.

I know he doesn’t consider himself a ‘wheeler dealer’ (“I’m a facking football manager”) any longer, but he’s now seriously starting to wind me up. God knows what Levy thinks him?

Right all going well we will move on Keane, Palacios, Jenas, Hutton, Bentley and Kranjcar even though I do not want him to be one of the players that leaves. That should free up plenty of space. Surely we are not considering this supposed Lennon offer either. We do not need to be strengthening the teams around us and that includes Liverpool. We need Lennon!

Modric made a very clear statement about wanting to join Chelsea. He gave a lot of thought to the wording so that it was not too offensive. His decision was well thought through, not rash. It would look foolish to both Tottenham and Chelsea fans if he changed his mind yet again. The best thing now for Tottenham is to take the money and use it well.

Gary, did Modric actually say catagorically that he wanted to leave Spurs and that Chelski was his preferred destination? I for one doubt it very much purely because the report was written by a very dubious newspaper of the lowest order indeed. The report was littered with losts of if’s but’s and maybe’s thrown in and of course it made so called sensational headlines in the process. If Modric was either filmed secretley or televised nationally saying that he wanted to leave Spurs for pastures new, then so be it, either sell him, or hold him to his contract and move on. Everything these so called professional football journalists write these days is complete bunkum, dreamt up for their own purposes. If were to believe everything they write, Spurs will be left with no players come the start of this coming season. Cast your mind back if you could, it started with Bale about to leave the club, both the Milan clubs hot on his trail, that was shot down in flames then all of a sudden the attention fell on Sandro to AC in exchange for of all people Flamini, then it was Modric for one of the so called big 4, before moving back to Sandro again this time to Villareal before moving on to Kabul and Bassong to Bolton in exchange for Cahill, then it was Kaboul to either Marsaille or PSG, now were on to Lennon off to Liverpool. Next it will be Dawson followed by BAE and VDV with Thud closing the door behind him as he switches off the lights. All I can say is that the entire low class no class media circus if stuffed full of bullshit artiste trying to out do each other with the most outrageous crap they can dream up. At this rate Spurs may as well relegate themselves to one of the lower divisions.
