BREAKING NEWS: Man City Close To Signing BOTH Nasri & Clichy From Arsenal

By on June 30, 2011

Man City are closing in on a double swoop on Arsenal with deals for Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy, according to Sky Sports News sources.

Nasri’s future has been questioned in recent weeks after failing to agree a contract extension at the Emirates with several clubs linked with a move, most notably Man Utd who are said to be lining up a £20m bid.

But it seems Utd’s rivals City are now in pole position as Sky Sports News claims their sources have been told City are close to agreeing a £20m deal for the Frenchman, with a £180,000p/w contract thought to be on the table for the player.

City are also thought to be extremely close to tying up a deal for left back Gael Clichy, who like Nasri, only has 1 year left on his Gunners contract and has yet to sign an extension. The fee is not yet known, but it is believed to be in the region of £7m.

If City do snap up two of Arsenal’s first team players it will surely not go down well with Gooner fans. Nasri in particular, who was the clubs player of the year last term, will be sorely missed and Arsene Wenger can expect some stick from fans should the club sell to one of their major domestic competitors.

Dream on u idiot. U can’t even spell marple. Ur squad of defensive midfielders and mercenaries will win nothing.
Tevez hasn’t smiled once since he joined city. U can’t blame him, it’s not a step down, more like falling down the stairs.
Any genuine footballer would choose utd over city. Money grabbing mercs think differently. U will never learn, robinio, adebayor, ballotelli, tevez etc.

kev your a blatent retard with that comment. its pure jealousy with you most likely being a self-idulgent/entitled united moron. money grabbing? haha united invented big money spending in england pal….. yet you probably didnt know that as your a simple minded glory hunting idiot with know knowledge of real footballing history just an incredibly basic point of view over manchester city. A simple comment on here has ended up with your pathetic reply to something that has naf all to do with you. i actually feel sorry for you.

No need 2 feel sorry for me. I support the biggest and most successful club in England.
Any player than joins city is money grabbing bcos there is no other reason to join ur sh#tty club.
You have a sh#tty ex council house stadium in the sh#ttest part of Manchester. Your players clearly don’t want to be there. The only reason anyone outside of England has heard of city is because u play us in the derby u deluded idiot.
Tevez, Milner, toure, ballatelli etc all seem r happy at city. They never stop smiling lol.
When u have won 19 titles and been to 3 champions league finals in 4 years, u can start to compare ur no mark team to the worlds biggest. U sad b#stard.

If arsenal sell nasri to city, it would worse than selling to utd. Utd and Chelsea r already better than arsenal. City in my opinion r not. But if they sign nasri and fabregas goes to barca, that would be reversed.
Arsenal r puttin their top 4 spot in danger by selling to city.

I agree, but then again i highly doubt Liverpool or Spurs would adequately challenge them for the final spot.

If arsenal lost fabregas and nasri, I think spurs would be a genuine threat.
I agree Liverpool have no chance though. Poor squad.

That arsenal board is turning into a fuckin joke
If we have 50 million to spend why not take 5 million or whatever out of that funds and give it out as extra wages to clichy and nasri
I’m sure most gooners would much rather have nasri and clichy staying at the club than having some crap youngsters
Come on wenger gazids and the arsenal board either sort yourselves out or piss off
Because if u sell those plays your precious £5 hotdogs at the stadium will not be selling because no one will b at the emirates next year

we did not know Nasri before AW decided to buy him. So I believe AW can bring a better player than Nasri. In AW I trust

That isnt the point, we shouldnt be selling our best players to our EPL rivals, it is only undermining Arsenal’s chances next season!!

It’s good to give player the salary they need. However, it affects teams financially when players do not performe well as the team will have to continue meeting their huge salaries. Please can we remember the likes of Adebayor in Man City (180.000) what did he do last year? or Torres in Chelsea. I believe that we are in right track. However, I would not mind if AW buy two strong defenders (I mean physically strong) and 2 strong and fine finishers in front.

U must b smoking d same sfuff as AW. Arsenal are taking the piss out os us loyal fans.

    June 30, 2011 at 7:01 pm

Keefy I am sorry to say that you are the one who is smoking something. AW is the one who spotted Nasri. Henry, Pirez, Berkhamp etc…. It is nothing to do with being loyal to AW. I do not think the board is prepared to pay exhorbitant salaries and this to me is very understandable. Why don’t you support another team if you think you are right or fed up of Arsenal. Do you want the club to start clocking up unnecessary debts? go and smoke you splif.

Chris, you are deluded if you think selling our best players will be good for Arsenal especially to man city who are realistically our biggest rivals at present! Also may I point out Bergkamp was bought by Bruce Rioch! And yes AW has bought some gems however he has bought some shit! For example Squillaci, Almunia Grimandi, Stepanov etc etc the list goes on! We are right as fans to be concerned if this story is true.

If you check your history – you’ll discover that Mr Bergkamp was at Highbury before Monsieur Wenger.

Result? now get rid of all the other wantaway players Cesc, Denilson and Bendtner and while you are at it can you take all the wantaway fans/supporters with you. I am fed up with so called fans/supporters moaning and slagging of the club. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SUPPORT THE CLUB (IF YOU DO?) OR EVEN BE AN ARMCHAIR FAN? Sure the last 6 seasons have not brought trophies but this is not Scotland or Spain, there are more than 2 teams in it and in the last 6 season we have made it to 2 domestic finals, 1 champions league final and finished in the top 4 EVERY season. If you want to see a trophy lifted all the time why not follow Rangers or Novac Djokovic.

If arsenal lose Fabregas, Nasri and Clichy…you best believe our position in the top four would be gone and we wont be seeing any silverware for a couple more seasons….yet at the same time i wont be surprised if it did happen ever since we lost Flamini after his best season i lost confidence in the arsenal management and if this happens it will convince me even the more that they are just out for a quick buck

Wenger never spotted bergkamp rioch did.

    • abc

      June 30, 2011 at 7:37 pm

Bergkamp was hardly spotted, he was already a top international player, fuck me Stevie Wonder could have spotted him.

You know the biggest worry for me is when Clichy and Fabregas leave, we will only have 9 homegrown players and 5 of them are Bendtner Denilson Mannone Vela and Traore.

Rioch didn’t spot squat he was useless that’s why he was gone so quick, it was David Dein.

      • Kev

        July 1, 2011 at 3:14 am

I think you’ll find bergkamp was a world famous Dutch international playing for inter when arsenal signed him. Neither rioch or Dean “found him”, everyone knew about him.

anybody that wanted 2 go,let them go,one thng i bliv is that arsenal wil definately qualify 4 champions league,n also balance their account whch i bliv matter most, who knws fab, nasri, clichy etc b4 they nw demandng 4 huge salary,it shows they re nt loyal 2 d club @all,am very sure sum of them wil definately regret it

I suspect this coming season will be make or break for AW, without doubt he is a talented coach – but without a trophy in the cabinet (just the womens FA Cup and dust)i think he should walk.

I couldn’t care less if anyone of the players want to go for money. Arsenal survived over the years with departures of even bigger, better players, Henry, Bergkamp, Viera….. Every year we are told Arsenal will drop out of the top 4 but somehow they keep competing for the title. If Fabregsa and Nasri go it will not change anything. Fabregas hardly played last season, always injured. So not concerned at all. If Barcelona, City or united want to pay up then good luck to them. Another player is in line to make his make next season

  15. Alex

    July 1, 2011 at 2:47 am

He may only have 1 year left on his contract, but I highly doubt Arsene Wenger would be stupid enough both Fabregas and Nasri. Once Fabregas is sold (at an adequate price) I’m sure Wenger will approach Nasri with a 110-120k/week offer. If he doesnt accept that, he would be nothing but another moneygrabbing benchdweller at City.

  16. WOLF

    July 1, 2011 at 4:57 am

Relax everyone until we here that contract negotiations are off, stop believing all this bullcrap. Last official news on Nasri was that he was meeting with ARSENAL. Not united or city or anyone else. And who cares if we sell clichy to city cause I can guarantee by January either Kolarov or Zabaleta will be starting.
