TRANSFER NEWS: Arsene Finds £13m Replacement For Clichy

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will again turn to Ligue 1 to strengthen his squad, this time its Lyon fullback Aly Cissokho.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will again turn to Ligue 1 to strengthen his squad, this time its Lyon fullback Aly Cissokho, according to reports.

The 23-year old has been identified as replacement for Gael Clichy who has just joined Premiership rivals Manchester City in a £7m switch.

The attacking left back nearly joined AC Milan back in 2009 but failed a medical paving the way for a £13m move to Lyon. The French outfit will want to recoup the entire transfer fee they paid for Cissokho leaving Wenger to part with the entire fee received for Clichy plus an additional £6m.

Despite a growing reputation in French football the defender has only managed to achieve one cap for France, but faces tough competition in Manchester United’s Patrice Evra and Manchester City new boy Gael Clichy.

i wouldnt say that we are the ‘laughing stock of the top 4’. man city only replaced liverpool at the end of the season, so before that liverpool were the laughing stock because look at where they finished in the league.

I don’t trust your judgement plus I don’t think you know football that well .
Arsene will find the right players needed to fit into the style of football at Arsenal . He has been doing that time and time again and i’m sure we had some bad luck with Eduardo and Rosicky.Arsenal are due some signings which will turn out to be inspired .

Cissiko is a larger man than Gael C who has excellent speed and quickness with superior crossing skills, shooting skills and closing skills. He lacks the premier league experience that our targeted Everton fullback possess which is a concern.

Two concerns: 1) why did he fail the medical for AC Milan and 2) why is he rated behind Evra and Clichy on the french national team?

Time to move BOSS and fill the hole Clichy departure leaves in the lineup.
The summer is passing by all to quickly.
Saw some advertisments for Christmas shoppers already…….

He failed the medical because of a tooth problem. something to do with his wisdom tooth.

Wheresmyarsenalgone, why don’t you give your cynical crap a rest? All that people like you do is spread doom, gloom, and negativity. Ever heard of the power of positive thinking? Then again, it’s easier to whine, moan, bleat and complain.

Your username is presumptuous; it’s no more your Arsenal than it is mine.

Aw had the power of positive thinking last season and where did that get us??? The only positive I want is positive action!!!! Now aw get the money out and buy some steel for our team and let’s challenge for the top honours!!!!

I think we’ll be bringing in some good signings this summer, and I fully expect that in the coming season we will have more steel amongst the good football. Once again we’ll be challenging for the top honours, and with more steel we’ll not fall apart again at the final hurdle.

I honestly think that we’ll benefit from the move of Fabregas to Barlelona since, great footballer though he is, the team needs a captain who is fully committed to the club.

This is what we all want to see, we are only gloom and doom coz we feel so proud of arsenal and don’t want to see it slip away into challengers for European places but as automatic places as champions!!!!!! Then onto conquering champions league. It’s our time and we must take it with everything we have. Come on you mighty gunners!!!!!!!!

Wow Arsene Wenger really has it in for Arsenal, Clichy and Nasri gone, Fabregas going….no arrivals as yet and i bet there wont be either. Wenger should be fired…no matter the consequences….even if arsenal ceases to be a top 5 team at least we will be rid of this old (cant say it). What pisses me off is how casual he is sayin that he will be busy this summer yet there’s nothing. raise your placards pple and do to wenger what egypt did to mubarak,

pliz be serious like other clubs do your selling without buying & you think its wise sorry without new players we are going no where coz your selling good players leaving youngerones who are good but no use pliz buy or leave the club to others make it better since you have done many things for it arsene wenger also look to old good players nt youngones as you always do we are tired of such

Cissokho is the next Patrice Evra. He has a cross, pace, a vicious left foot and he’s good in the air. A huge improvement over Clichy.

He find replacement, but I’m sure that he will not sign and other club will beat us in signing again………..

he has a clause in his contract that means 20% of the fee will go to porto so they will have to pay about £16m if they want the full fee they paid back. He failed milan medical because of a problem with the teeth that could identify a spine problem
