REPORTS: Liverpool Have £15m Offer For Winger Rejected

By on July 6, 2011

Liverpool have had a second offer for Steward Downing rejected by Aston Villa, according to Sky Sports News.

The Reds have already had a £12m bid turned down for the winger, but their revised offer of nearer £15m was also rebuffed last night by Villa.

Downing has 2 years left on his current deal and has refused to sign an extension, and has been linked with Liverpool as well as Arsenal this summer. But so far, Villa are holding firm for a sum close to £20m for the England ace.

It remains to be seen wether Liverpool return with a third offer, but it’s likely as Kenny Dalglish continues to try and recruit that creative winger the Anfield faithful has been crying out for.

Maybe a blessing! There’s no way Stewart Downing is worth £15m yet alone £20m!

With Ashley Young signing for Man United for £16.5m, surely this would mean the valuation of Stewart Downing should be no more than £9m…

I hope Liverpool don’t do anything stupid by upping their offer. There are better wingers out there which would cost the club far less.
