Life After Fabregas & Nasri: Who I Think Le Boss Should Buy

By on July 7, 2011

Anyway you look at the situation, it is all gloom and doom as Gunner fans cannot contemplate what life at Arsenal would look like, should want away duo of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri walk through the doors of Arsenal.

But as it is now, I can see a way Wenger can turn around the fortune of the club by strengthening his squad and at the same time still, stay true to his philosophy of not paying extravagantly for players. Definitely, the last 6 years have been barren and extremely difficult, but Wenger might just do himself some good by splashing a bit of the cash for re-enforcement.

Here are some acquisitions and changes the gaffer really needs to put into effect and still maintains his frugal-managerial acumen:

VOdds

Goalkeepers:

The goalkeeping department look settled with Sczeczny as no. 1, Fabiansky as 2nd choice while the coming from loan,  Mannone as 3rd choice.

Defence:

The defence department needs more attention. To make things worse, Clichy is now confirmed a Manchester City player. With this, a capable replacement in Jose Enrique of Newcastle must be bought in; likewise the Gary Cahill and Chris Samba deals which are still in progress should be wrapped up quickly to complement the efforts of Thomas Vermalean and the improved Johan Djourou.

Midfield:

Coming to the midfield, there’s a certain Japanese midfielder Ryo Miyachi (if he can get a work permit), who apparently was nicknamed ‘Ryodinho’ during his loan spell in Holland after comparism to Ronaldinho. There is the Ligue 1 player of the year, Eden Hazard, who has loads of potential, and was a vital figure in Lille winning the Ligue 1 for the first time in 50 years. Has been linked with Arsenal for the past two years; this might just be the time to bring him to the Emirates as a better replacement for Nasri.

Relegated West Ham player Scott Parker, who is available on the cheap is another name on my mind as a good replacement for Denilson and alongside Jack Wilshere, they could replicate the England midfield for the next few years. Valencia is in a financial crisis having lost Da Silva and David Villa last summer. They are still not stable financially, a good deal will tempt them into selling Juan Mata to Arsenal incase Cesc forces his way out.

Strikers:

Finally the final third, Gervinho has been proven as a provider and scorer of great goals, he’s got possibilities in an Arsenal shirt. The Ivorian player of the year can also play on the right, incase Theo Walcott continues to disappoint. There you have a midfielder, winger and proven striker, for the price of one player. Samuel Eto’o has made his desire to play in England open, I’m certain he won’t cost much taking his age into consideration. Wenger can offer him a 2 year deal.  In Eto’o, you have a born scorer to take the goal burden off Robin van Persie’s shoulder.

There you have much improved but cost-effective Arsenal team capable of winning tittles. Done my part, over to Le Prof.

    Good job.

But, just to keep in terms of Wenger’s mean means, I suggest you remove Jose Enrique, you give that role to Thomas Vermaelen with Koscielny and Gibbs good deputies. Make Vermaelen the captain as first, he is worth captaincy and second, to make him not fill slighted at all by being moved to left back.

Then, bring Samba and Cahill together for partnering either Djourou or Koscielny ( I believe Djourou and Koscielny are better individually then Samba and Cahill, especially Koscielny but they need solid back up).

In midfield, just like in your argument for Gervinho, why not buy 3 for the price of 1, that is Arturo Vidal, he is adept at attacking midfield, right back and more importantly Defensive midfield where other than Song we don’t have any cover. Then we would need a genuine left Winger, Hazard and Mata can do but I also agree with Wenger, contrary to most fans that Stewart Downing would really be a good addition there.

In attack, I dream of an Eto’o in Arsenal shirt, but I think that maybe, Karim Benzema would fit better and longer considering Eto’o’s age. But I am not saying no to Eto’o, I’d be abnormal to say so. Gervinho is a good fit especially due to his massive pace and supreme dribbling skills but that is highly likely to be a done deal. Theo Walcott would also prosper in central attack as he can score, what he can’t do is cross leaving questions as to why he is ever played as a winger. Give him central striking role and he stays injury free and that would be one of the few 20 goals a season striker.

WTF is everyone so adament that Cesc is off this summer as opposed to last?

Much as I would prefer to keep Nasri, is he exempt from the meltdown last season? He isn’t irreplaceable.

Hazard seems unlikely … I would love him at arsenal but realistically, this year at least, its not happening.

Eto would be on massive wages which unless we not just brake the wage structure but obliterate it, is not happening.

Both cahil and samba would be good but can anyone actually see us getting two in? We already have verma, kos and djourou (plus squilachi if he stays) 5 cbs who would be expecting a starting place goes beyond healthy competition.
However if verma moves to lb and kos might accept being back up then 3 seems reasonable.

Do not really know much about matta but parker would be a decent buy, however lets not forget about lansbury and other youth prospects who have a chance of making the step up …. we have the opportunity to give them a shot and save money, maybe its worth taking it

Why are we all shouting buy and buy all the time, why not sell some of the mediocre players we have and if fabregas and nasri goes why not view it this way.

    given/chezzer
    Sagna Samba/JD – Vermaelen Koscielny

    Wilshere Song Arshavin/Ramsey

    Gervinho Walcott VP

This is still a superb team with the likes of Diaby, Bendtner(striking roles only not flank), frimpong, jenkinson and few more players to come in

I think clichy will be replaced in the squad by botelho who is now classed as homegrown. Wenger has publicly announced that he needs only 2 players maximum. i believe one is a centre half and the other a forward. however i do not think that takes into account players leaving. firstly i think gervinho and samba are the 2 players wenger wants and to accomadate them he is prepared to lose clichy and bendtner. then there is the possibilty of losing cesc nasri and denilson. If he loses any of these he will replace them i think the replacement for cesc will be nasri or benzema not a direct replacement but i think rvp will drop back into the no.10 role as the support striker. if nasri leaves i think the replacement will be hazard or mata. if denilson leaves i think the replacement will be parker. i do not think any other departures are planned but if good offers come in for rosicky almunia and arshavin they will be considered and may be replaced but i reckon he is more likely to give youth the opportunity.

Wenger should just please stop playing these players out of their favourite positions to get the best out of them……….. Wenger i believe you can do it.

How come nobody is talking of the Swiss national team captain? Udinese seem to be in a hurry to ship him off to Napoli and we had wanted him before now. i watched him against England and I was impressed. Gokan Inler would bench Song any day.

@steve its quit obvious that keeping cesc and nasri is the most difficult thing in the hand of our manager. Fabregas has decleared never to play for afc anymore so why do you want to keep such player? Nasri on his part has a year to run in his contract and he’s not read to put pen to paper so why keeping?while he will leave for free in 12months time? It will be a risky trying to keep this guyz.
