TRANSFER NEWS: Arsenal Launch £27m Bid For Real Madrid Striker

By on July 7, 2011

Arsenal are set to bid a club record £27m for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

Arsene Wenger is hoping the signing of Benzema may persuade French team mate Samir Nasri to stay on at the club, after the Gunner boss increased his wage offer to £100,000p/w in a last ditch attempt to make the midfielder stay.

Even if Arsenal do lose Nasri, as well as captain Cesc Fabregas who is widely expected to finally make the move to Barcelona this summer, Wenger is worried what losing two key players could do to supporters moral heading in to the new season, so hopes a marquee signing like Benzema would ease fan frustration.

It is believed that Madrid boss Jose Mourinho would sanction the sale of Benzema in order to free up funds to sign Sergio Aguero, and it seems Arsene Wenger is finally willing to splash the cash in the transfer market. The Gunner are also expected to complete the signing of Gervinho on Friday in an £11m deal.

Why would Benzema join Arsenal when all the best players are leaving? Mourinho has said he’s not for sale and KB said he wants to stay at RM. If this rumour has come from Arsenal it’s typical to say they are trying to sign a player but not really. Just like Reina from Liverpool last season. We needed a goalkeeper, bid for Reina, bid rejected, so we decided we no longer needed a goalkeeper and signed no one.

Mourinho said last year that KB is the same type of player like Higuain and he needs something different. All the talk taht KB doesn’t want to leave is simple about getting back into the team or do you like to see Denilson back in the team? Besides that he is not good enough? If Mourinho buys Agüero or Neymar they will try to sell either Higuain or KB. I don’t really agree that the best players are leaving. Clichy left. Cesc wants to leave. Nasri only wants to leave because of Wenger’s lack of ambition in the Transfer Market, so if he was to sign the likes of Benzema, Parker etc. Nasri will sign an extension.

So we hope to sign Benzema for £27m and also Gervinho for £11m, that’s only two players coming in but three going out. What about the defenders that Wenger has been promising since the transfer window opened i.e. Cahill, Samba and either Leighton Bains or this other French player Aly something or other). Wenger is still saying he wants Cahill & one other but will we have the funds or will we have to make do with the two idiots in the defence Squillaci & Konchelny?

    • samuel

      July 7, 2011 at 1:30 pm

The two idiots in defence are/were Clichy
who thankfully has been sold and Sagna the
      ball watcher supreme,talking about idiots?

“wenga” will never pay 27 million for a player.coz he’s too stubborn & stingy.thats the fact of reality.just look at how arsenal missed out on alvarez saga which dragged on for weeks & later fell through for mulling over 1.7 million of a fee.wenga thinks that its just a game of poker while every big club is splashing the cash, buyin players & wenga like every year is enjoyin holidays.thats done.this rumor is done and dusted off…

‘every big club is splashing the cash, buyin players’

Oh right, who have Chelsea and Spurs bought then, or aren’t they big clubs? No one thats who. And who have Man City bought apart from a couple of cheap 2nd rate defenders? Maybe they are not a big club either. Use your brain if you have one.

If there is anything worth doing 2 keep Nasir @ the Emirate, pls Wenger do rather than losing 2 key players in a transfer window, more over, we’re not 2 good @ buying quality once.

We haven’t sold anyone other than Clichy and we haven’t bought anyone. The Window is open for another 7 weeks.
Yet the panic is beginning to set in. Can we afford him? Why don’t we sell
them? The mindless questions gather pace.
We must leave all the negotiations to the experts at the Emirates. Wenger himself has so much confidence in the way things are going, that he’s on his hols in the Med. Patience from all of us
is the order of the day.

It is the year 2011. An Arsenal FC plane is flying – high up in the air. The plane is apparently on auto-pilot – the Pilot, (a one Ass-ne Venga) is in deep slumber. His ‘co-pilots’ (the Board of Arsenal FC) are deeply snoozing and hallucinating – they are dreaming big, visualising a huge feast courtesy of the wind-fall from the sales of the club’s star players. Meanwhile, from it’s sound, the plane (Arsenal FC’s) engine has clearly developed a fatal break-down. An armageddon-like plane-crash from high altitude is inevitable. Uneasy, sensing an imminent tragedy, the cabin crew (Nasri, Clichy, Walcott, Fabregas etc) are secretly but hastily collecting parachutes – preparing to jump to safety. Curiously, the plane’s loyal ‘passengers’ (fans of Arsenal FC) are lost in song – blaring out their favorite – eternal tune – “In Arsene We Trust”.
