Gervinho Back In France After Arsenal Deal Hit By Late Problem

Arsenal’s bid to sign Lille forward Gervinho has  hit a late hitch and will be delayed by at least a week due to VISA problems.

The Independent reports that the Ivory Coast international failed to secure a VISA as his paperwork was not in order, and is now back in France. The 24-year-old passed his medical last week but due to this last minute snag Arsene Wenger was unable to secure the deal in time for Gervinho to travel with his new team-mates for the Gunners Asian tour.

Wenger wanted to use the trip as a way for Gervinho to get to know his new team mates and get settled in the squad. It’s thought the paperwork issue is not serious enough to jeopardise the deal but it will take around a week to secure the VISA needed to finalise the transfer.

Am not suprised. This gervinho could have been and dusted weeks ago.If there had been visa problem then, it must have been solve by now. With our firebrigade approach it made too late 4 the asia tour. A week they say,We all better pray the worse should not happen.

Of course it must be Wenger and Arsenal’s fault that his paperwork is not in order for his visa!! I mean a 24 year old man could not possibly take responsibility for his own paperwork, could he?

Why is it so important that Gervinho is in Asia? Our captain isnt there? We are playing a Malaysian x1 and a Chinese team x1. There will be plenty of time to gel with your team mates against better opposition. Anyhow, we all know Wenger well enough by now to know that very few players are thrown straight into the starting x1 unless of course they are exceptional or there are injuries.

As for Koscielny at DM, not a bad move, however, i would prefer to see him as a full back. I am not sure he is good enough in the air to play in the middle, DM or CB. However, he is strong in the tackle and his pace is ok, he could be an excellent deputy for Sagna.
I think the same could be said for Squillaci, he has played RB and DM many times, even for France. Although i have to say, a ferry back to France would be favourite for the soon to be oldest player on the books.

Project youth is almost complete, when Almunia leaves next week, it will leave just 3 players over 30. In fact all 3 are 30 Squillaci, Rosicky and Arshavin. You would not bet against all 3 leaving before the season starts or departing in the January window. Arshavin and Rosicky are both out of contract at the end of the season and January is a good time for departues to Russia.

i don’t see why a DM has to be good in the air…?

This wouldn’t happen if it were United or Chelsea buying Gervinho. We’re a professional club, but when it comes to transfers, we’re a bunch of amateurs after Dein left.

If this is true, it is yet another reason for me to be embarrassed about my club.

I think wenger is the worst coach i have ever seen in my life he should stop prizing players as if he.s prizing tin tomato. Cahil and samba these are quality players that can make it happen as far as arsenal is concern pls we need a change cos have an arsenal fan 4 the past ten years

” Wenger pls.. Dnt let Nasri go, do everything to keep him. And also pls buy Kan Aguero, Cahill, one strong mid-fielder and central defender pls. With that I can bet my life on trophies next season without stress.

Well… I think we are forgetn something here. If we sign samba or cahill or whoever… We have forgotten the fact that clichy is no longer. Can gibbs fill up that position? To all that don’t know wat it means for a player to have visa prblms mean, u shuld understand that it is never the fault of the coach though it should av being settled if this deal was taken seriously earlier on.
