BREAKING NEWS: Liverpool Agree £20m Fee For Downing

Liverpool have agreed a £20m fee with Aston Villa for winger Stewart Downing, the club revealed last night.

After having two previous bids of £12m and £15m turned down by Villa this summer, Liverpool have finally reached an agreement  thought to be in the region of £20m for the services of the England winger. Arsenal were also thought to be interested but it seems the Merseyside club have got their man.

Downing will now travel to Anfield to undergo a medical and thrash out personal terms. A statement released on the Reds’ official website read:

“Liverpool FC tonight announced they had agreed a fee with Aston Villa for the transfer of Stewart Downing.

“Liverpool have now been granted permission to discuss personal terms with the player and arrange a medical.”
