Things Learnt From Liverpool’s 4-3 Victory Over Guangdong

It was a pretty interesting game to watch, as Liverpool took a commanding 4-1 lead before crumbling towards the end of the game, and conceded two goals in the space of a minute.

*David N’gog actually doesn’t have too bad a finish, I think that his dribbling lacks a lot of quality and finesse. He can’t beat his marker and he can only get behind defenders through running on to a through ball. A decent finish from the Frenchman, but it might still be Au’revoir.

*Charlie Adam made his debut for Liverpool, coming off the bench as a sub and I think he had a decent game out there, he was very involved in the 4th goal, where he stole the ball and passed it to Rodriguez (if I’m not mistaken) whom put in a ball for Carroll to finish. Lots of diagonal balls from him and I was loving it.

*Connor Coady had a pretty quiet night, although he did provide a class finish after running on to an Andy Carroll ball for Liverpool’s 3rd goal of the night. Pacheco wasn’t too sharp although he did carve a wonderful chance following some beautiful one-two passing between him and Spearing to get behind the defence.

*Andre Wisdom ain’t ready for the big stage yet, he’s got the strength, but he still lacks in positioning. Daniel Agger, well, let’s just say it wasn’t one of his better days. The 7th goal of the game was horrendous, with the Guanghong player wrong-footing our Danish defender.

*John Flanagan, absolutely wonderful night for the young Englishman, in my opinion. He’s got a hard and perfectly timed tackle in his defensive arsenal and he was absolutely wonderful to watch.

*Spearing and Shelvey did a pretty good job in the middle of the park in the first part, with some magical passes, but a lot of passes were wayward and off-target as well, so mixed night for the pair.

*Joe Cole, you can tell that he’s not a speed type of player (any more) but in all honesty, his crossing ability ain’t that bad, he provided the lovely cross for the first goal.
