Tottenham Speak Out On Modric Transfer Request

By on July 14, 2011

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp remains confident they can keep hold of want-away midfielder Luka Modric.

The Croatian international has made no secret of his desire to leave White Hart Lane this summer. The playmaker has already been subject to two rejected bids from Chelsea, with reports suggesting Modric is growing increasingly frustrated with the club failing to budge on their firm stance that he won’t be sold.

Reports yesterday suggest Modric is set to hand in a transfer request to engineer a move to West London, but Redknapp remains unfazed by the recent speculation.

Redknapp said: “We know he wants to leave and whether he writes it down on a piece of paper doesn’t really make any difference to our stance.

“He’s a great player and we don’t want to lose him.”

It’s obvious they want to sell him. Just driving up the price. Spurs usual selling policy.

it is always in best interest to sell early so you can respend the money and strengthen the squad. you know you will. silly not to. or you’d better start making signings to prove you want to win…

The kid signed a contract. It means he is legally bound, just as Tottenham are legally bound to keep him on their books for the next five or six years, whatever is remaining in the contract term.
After signing the contract in May, he was apparently approached by Chelsea and decided the grass was greener on the other side of town.
He has not got the right to walk out on Tottenham any more than they have the right to dump him before the contact is finished.
Luka has an agent who is supposed to look out for his rights. They had him sign the contract. Whom should he blame if he is suddenly dissatisfied?
It’s all very well to say a player should be allowed to leave rather than poison the locker room. We heard all that with Carrick, Berbatov and Keane. But Levy has decided to put an end to that nonsense and will not countenance a sale of our top player to our arch rival.
Before the month is out Levy will explain to Modric that Spurs are capable of winning the silverware he covets so earnestly – and in so doing may even put paid to Chelsea’s chances of finishing in the top four with their aging squad and their new manager who is unproven in the competition of the EPL.
Ans Levy may even offer Modric an increase in salary to stay(don’t let’s kid ourselves -it’s always primarily about the money. Or may even sell him overseas. But Modric will not be wearing a Chelsea shirt this coming season.

They’re Obviously going to sell him, just trying to get as much as they can, It’s a repeat of Berbatov all over again. I can’t blame him though. why stay at a club that can’t rival Chelsea. It’s only natural to want to play for a better team. Europa is hardly exciting.

Keep Modric. He will not sulk, as he knows that other potential future teams for him will watch his attitude, and value him accordingly. He is our best player, so it is important to keep him.

It’s no use for Spurs making Modric stays against his wish. This has always been part of Spurs antics in the past. Didn’t Levy tried it with United & Dimitar? It failed then & it’s bound to fail again! Chelsea is the best place for Luka to be to win a title! Even though AVB’s young, he’s defeated older & experience coaches before even in a very competitive UEFA CUP. He can win the EPL in his first year at Chelsea with Modric!

poor old spuds, small club, any decent players you do manage to trick into signing for you would ultimately want to play for chelsea, just accept it you are a small, selling club, don’t start trying to kid yourselves now. poor old spuds.

Every Totteham fans are just saying bull shit..1st before Harry became thFC coach ..why did he not stay at ports mouth, he said he wanted to be in the premier ship so THFC is his destinat

ion..2nd As far as I am concerned Chelsea has always been a strong and dominant force in English football u call them old but yet they were second and in past 8 yrs have proved critics wrong..3rd Modric should be heard ,and allowed to move to Stamford bridge just as Harry did with portsmouth ..why all the fuzz is modric the only player moving on another club..if they refuse it doesn’t affect Chelsea as their options for the blues but the moral of modric would affect him for the remaining season.

If you buy a phone on a 24 month contract you pay for the term of the contract, if you join the army you also sign a contract. If your a footy player and sign a 6 year contract and your called luka modric your at white hart lane for 6 years you either honor it and play or rot in the stand berbatov carrick and keanes contracts were not as secure as modrics and bales are, anyone in there fight mind would find it a honor for 125k a week at chelsea when there getting 45k at spurs poor guy must feel sick as a parrot signing in may then working out in next 6 years he will actualy lose the equivalent of 12 years pay! The ug/y little chunt must be gutted… And yes I’m a spurs fan and loving it

4 This is not to offend the true Chelsea fans ( you know who you are )

this is just for the delinquents that think they support Chelsea , but have not ever seen them play at stamford bridge.

    THANKS
