Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Linked With Two New Defenders | Denilson Replacement?

There is some interesting and exciting football news, transfers, rumors, gossip, and speculation surrounding the Gunners. Without further ado, here is the Arsenal Transfer News Roundup.

Arsenal To Bid For M’Vila If Denilson Leaves

According to Footy Bucket, the Gunners are set to bid for 21 year old, French international and Rennes holding midfielder, Yann M’Vila, if Denilson leaves the club. The report states that Wenger is a long-term admirer of the young Frenchman and that he sees him as a quality talent and replacement for the want away Brazilian. However, Rennes have him under contract till 2015 and he will not be sold cheaply.

In my opinion, M’Vila would be a quality addition to the squad and definitely an upgrade on Denilson. He’s got all the capabilities to succeed with the Gunners and in the Premier League. I doubt, though, that Rennes will sell him this summer as they’re adamant on keeping him and will only consider selling him, if they receive a huge offer for his services, probably an offer in excess of 15 million pounds.

Arsenal and Man City To Fight For The Services of Coates

Reports are filtering around, suggesting that the Gunners are in a fight with Man City over the signature of young, talented Uruguayan center back, Sebastian Coates. Coates has been impressive thus far in the Copa America and is on the watchful eyes of many clubs across Europe.

Coates was one of the players I listed in my 10 Copa America Players To Keep An Eye On, so I am quite excited by this link. He’s an excellent player who’s 21 years of age, 6’4″ tall, an excellent tackler, great aerially, has good technique and pace as well. I believe he would be a terrific player for the Gunners, he’s an exciting talent. Due to the huge interest in him, his club, Nacional, have reportedly increased his price tag to around 12.4 million pounds.

Arsenal Interested In Young Danish Defender

In another report by Footy Bunker, Arsenal have shown an interest in signing young Danish international center back, Mathias Jorgensen. Jorgensen, who plays for Copenhagen, is 21 and is around 6’3″ tall. The report also states that he’s athletic and has been capped 5 times internationally.

To be honest, I’ve never heard of this player, but from what I’ve read from others who have seen him play is that he’s a physically imposing player, who’s comfortable with the ball in his feet, excellent aerially and is a good tackler. Unknown buys are Wenger’s specialty so there could be some truth to this report. He is reportedly valued at around 5 million pounds.

What do you think? Should the Gunners go for M’Vila? Do you think the Gunners should go for either Coates or Jorgensen?

Please share your thoughts and opinions.
