Arsenal Transfer News: Fee Agreed For Striker | £20m Bid Reported For Playmaker

By on July 18, 2011

Another day goes by with more transfer news, gossip, rumors and speculation surrounding the Gunners. There is some exciting news on Joel Campbell, so without further ado, here is the Arsenal Transfer News Roundup.

Arsenal Agree Fee For Campbell

Exciting and great news today which was first reported by fellow Arsenal blogger, Gunnerblog, as Joel Campbell’s father and agent, confirmed on Costa Rica’s sports website Al Dia, that a fee has been agreed between Saprissa and Arsenal for the services of Joel Campbell. It’s a 5-year deal and the fee is around 930,000 pounds.

Whether or not Campbell joins the squad, will depend on whether or not he gets a “special talent” as he hasn’t played 70% of his country’s international matches.

VOdds

I believe that this is great news as Joel Campbell is certainly an excellent talent and hopefully he obtains the visa, so we can see him in action next season.

Arsenal Line Up Hamsik As Fabregas Replacement

Fascinating news, as reports are stating and suggesting that the Gunners are lining up Napoli star and Slovakia international, Marek Hamsik, as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas. Hamsik is valued by his club at around 100 million euros, with the report suggesting that Arsenal will start their bidding at 20 million pounds.

I believe that this just pure speculation, like most rumors. I am a big fan of Hamsik and I believe he would do very well with the Gunners, but with his inflated fee and Napoli being very adamant on keeping him, especially with Champions League next season. I seriously doubt that this transfer would take place this summer.

What do you think? Are you excited about the Campbell deal? Do you see Hamsik as a proper replacement for Fabregas, if he leaves?

Please share your thoughts and opinions.

what is wrong with ramsey and wilshire, spend the money on a striker and defenders. plus arshavin has always wanted to play central maybe he might get his old form back. plus we have naris but if we sell him we will still be fine. get a big time goal scorer. i am hoping tevez will end up at madrid, so benzema may become free, plus i think lakuka looks the busines, but if he goes to chelsea, sturidge may be up for grabs, new ian wright if ever i saw one. please wrenger we have this type of player and they are bloody good and only going to get better. ramsey was out for a year came back in pretty much his first game and bossed it against utd and scored the winner. cahill, jags, ventongen now he has said city do not interest him. and also if we end up with ventogen, lakuka, vermarlen it will make us a better option for hazad cause we will have a load of his international team mates. plus my mum is from napoli so i watch there games so if we do get hamsik its still good cause he is class, just we need other things sorted please first.

put vermaelen in midfield. the guy is the new vierra. Pace, goals, passing, protection to back four, leadership qualitys, tackles a brick wall if he has too, keeps his cool but still altra competative. reminds me so much of roy kean it scary. the guy would be an inspiration centre mid. i know centre half is important, but there are guys we can get, and i fancy kolshelnie to step up this year.

Campbell won’t get a work permit.
Lakaku is a great buy if Arsenal has actually signed him. So many mixed reports.
Vermaelen has proved he’s our number 1 CB. Koscielny looked like he had promise and Djourou as back up. I’d still feel better with a tall commanding CB to join TV.
We never cross so we can use Vela as our fox in the box.
We’re 3rd choice for Hamsik behind Man U and Man City so good chance we wont sign him.

we don’t need a ‘replacement’ for Fabregas, we have Ramsey! Hamsik has a eye for goal but there is no way he’d choose us over City or UTD, unless we win something this season. people seem to forget about Kyle Bartley, he had a helping hand in Rangers winning the SPL last season and he’s back with us this season. he’s going to be a good contender for the place alongside Tommy V. Gibbs will stay left back all season and prove all you critics wrong. if worst comes to worst, stick Song in at center back and then Ramsey can fill in Song’s roll in midfield, Ramsey has much better vision and bosses the midfield with Jack. Theo will be played as a striker more often this season, and we do need to get someone like Lukaku but if I were him, I know where I’d go, Chelsea, they have more money and more success in the past few years.

everyone needs to stop hating Wenger, you all say he doesn’t do anything good but then everyone licks Fabregas’ backside and says how good he is and we shouldn’t lose him, but it’s obvious he doesn’t want to play for us anymore. Wenger brought him into the first team at 16, and the same people who lick Fabregas’ arse also say ‘trusting youth is a problem’? it’s obviously nothing to do with age, it was the fact our center backs were inconsistent last season, this year Tommy V is back to lead the line.

    have faith Gooners!
