Arsenal Offer Star Huge Pay Rise In Last-Ditch Attempt To Make Him Stay

By on July 20, 2011

Arsenal are to do what Arsene Wenger has promised, and fight as hard as possible to keep the best players at the club, by offering Samir Nasri a new deal worth £6 million per year, according to the Star.

24 year-old Nasri, who has refused to sign several previous contract offers made by Arsenal, has been the subject of interest from both Manchester United and Manchester City. Apparently, City offered Nasri an £160,000 per week deal, double what Arsenal were thought to have originally offered Nasri back when this whole contract saga began.

The Arsenal board are now prepared to meet with Nasri’s representatives according to the paper, to negotiate further with a £115,000 per week deal said to be Arsenal’s new, improved offer. Arsenal are determined to keep Nasri at the club amid a stronger interest from Manchester City, who are said to have offered in excess of £20 million for the Arsenal midfielder.

They will also be hoping to avoid letting him go for free next season when his contract expires, especially now that Barcelona have confirmed they are in talks to sign Cesc Fabregas. Wenger will apparently tell Nasri that he will be made Arsenal’s main central midfielder to mould the side around next season if Fabregas goes, in the hope that this will convince him to stay.

Robin van Persie is also set  to be offered a new contract – an improved one from his current £70,000 a week, even though he has a contract that runs until 2014.

This is what they should have done earlier,Wenger should learn a lesson that some players in other clubs are been paid more than Nasri is earning in Arsenal even though some are not better than he is.Again let Wenger ends the speculations surrounding the Cesc since he really wnts to leave let him go we can trust Wilsher.let him fortify the club by bring in Samba and Baines.

I think Arsenal have done the right thing to have increased Nasri’s wage and Van persi’s as well. Fabrigas should be allowed to go for others to come in, there are good replacements in the market, Wenger should know better.

Excellent – if it’s true and more importantly if he accepts.

I don’t agree with selling cesc to end speculation. Sell our best player to stop papers printing rubbish? All they’ll do is put another player in the spotlight as they do every year.

Cesc is under contract. He wasn’t suffering when he signed it and accepted a huge pay hike and if he knew he’d want to leave he should’ve asked for a shorter deal. If we get OUR VALUATION then fair enough but let’s not be bullied into selling – it sets a bad example and we will become a target for everyone til all our quality is elsewhere.

The pay rise is an absurd idea. Most Arsenal fans don’t seem to realise what they are saying. Yes I agree, it may be time for Cesc to move on. After all he has been at the club for 8 years now. However in those years he has always been dedicated to the club and its cause. Nasri doesn’t compare to Cesc in character nor ability. Can’t you see this is a similar case to the Tevez and Manchester City saga. Nasri is the same as Tevez. You can’t buy loyality and you can’t pay ridiculous sums for dedication. If he doesn’t want to stay for Arsenal, then any other club can pay him £115,000 a week for a player who was above average for less than half a season. Players like Robin, Jack and Cesc is what the club need. Not Nasri, Hleb or Flamini.

Vanpersie wage need to step up cos he is the best player we have right now and he is committed to arsenal, we need to sign a left back player like jose enrique baines or cissokho to fill up the space, with at least a centre back player like cahill or samba to pair with vermalaen, i know wenger won’t act fast but he reasons fast and knows what will suit dey club he should better change his policy b’cos r’ght now he is looking for cheap article he don’t want to spend to get result he better change b’cos this is the right time for change he can’t continue like dis year after year

i dont think arsenal should sell Fab cos Nasri is fit in Cesc wing, let look at last season when Nasri play Fab role it hard to score, our striker did not see any pass but when Nasri play wing such as Fulham, Man city, Chelsea, and Barce we have a good wining that why Arsenal should not sell and i wish Arsene wenger to by a quality player and OXLADE
