Arsenal Transfer News: Defender On The Way | Eboue In Talks With Galatasaray

Eboue In Talks With Galatasaray

According to various reports, Arsenal’s versatile right-back and Ivorian international, Emmanuel Eboue, is in talks with Turkish giants Galatasaray. Eboue, has been heavily touted to leave the Gunners, and was also linked with Queen Park Rangers this summer.

In my opinion, it’s very likely that Eboue will leave this summer, as he’s way down the pecking order with the Gunners and he needs and deserves to play regular football. If he leaves, he’ll leave with my respect, he’s given his all for the club and I’ve always loved his passion to play for the Gunners. He’ll be missed and I wish him the best of luck. Eboue is reportedly valued at around 5 million pounds.

Wenger Confirms That He Is Looking For A New Defender

The most positive news today, as Wenger confirmed to that he is pursuing a new central defender. Here is what he said, courtesy of

“Certainly, we will have to find one more defender,” he said. “We [are] working on it.

“I can promise we work very hard on it. In fairness, everybody looks for players. Everybody looks for the same area and you see that nobody turns up with magic. It’s all about being steady, working very hard on it and being calm as well.

“I don’t want to comment individually because I do not want to destabilise clubs. I do not want to do to other clubs what some clubs do to us so I wouldn’t like to comment individually on any player.”

This is certainly good news, bringing in a new, quality central defender is the main priority this summer. Let’s hope that Wenger doesn’t bring in a central defender of the quality of Mikael Silvestre, Igors Stepanovs, Sebastian Squillaci, etc.

Before I close this rather short roundup, I would like to send my thoughts and prayers to the people of Norway, who have tragically lost over a dozen lives due to the bombing and shootings in both Oslo and Utoya Island….. May God Be With You All.

What do you think? Do you want Eboue to leave? Are you relieved that Wenger is looking for a new defender?

Cheers and take care,

Omar –

First may I send my condolences to all the people of Norway not just the parents and friends of those whose lives were tragically cut short.

As for Eboue I’m glad he’s leaving, yes he’s had some good games but also some very bad games i.e. the Liverpool game where he gave a penalty away. As for a defender we’ll have to wait and see but I hope it’s not an over the top player but someone in the age group of Cahill where we can get some decent years out of them.

Somehow I have more trust in Squllaci than Eboue. Sebastian was put in an unfamiliar role of a more forward thinking defender with unfamiliar partners in an unfamiliar tough league. I give him some slack and really want to see how he will perform this season. The in not half as bad as all those comments suggest. Eboue on the other hand has proved himself lacking concentration and calamity prone – his tackle against Liverpool which cost us 2 points and his masterful goal line block of Fabregas strike were two standouts. He is a decent right-back but that the only place where he can be used. Arsene’s attempts to play him in midfield were disastrous, he just does not have enough brain I’m afraid. On top of that the guy may be lovable but he is a clown and whereas some would say he is good for the dressing room I think the opposite. The atmosphere in the Arsenal squad should be toughened up and calamities should be punished, too many players feel way too comfortable without putting any extra effort. So with regret Eboue you are fired. I doubt though that he will go, this is all speculations so far. I think Wenger will keep him for at least one more season.

“his tackle against Liverpool which cost us 2 points”
Eboue was the unfortunate victim of lucas’ tricks, and an incompetent ref. You can clearly see lucas purposefully slow down, making no attempt to play the ball, so that eboue just couldn’t stop or get out of the way in time. It’s the easiest way to make contact with a defender, but it shouldn’t have been given as a foul because lucas wasn’t trying to play the ball. The ref should really have been wise to it.

I have to say if eboue goes I’ll be gutted! Ok he’s not the greatest player but he is a true pro in the sense he will always give 100% and never moans like nasri and fabregas. Good luck where ever u end up eboue. If the whole team had your spirit and determination we’d be world beaters. Not your biggest fan but hope to see you on the squad list next season!!!!!

Eboue may b below our expectation but his being in the team is imperative.I would have wished him to remain coz he is a gud cover up defender, midfielder n winger. Why cant we release Squillacci,Bendtner,Diaby instead. As for a defender,we have a big defensive problem,we need a tall versatile defender coz we lose alot on corners n setpieces
