REPORTS: Chelsea Linked With Sensational Move For Rival Midfielder

By on July 28, 2011

Chelsea are planning a surprising move for Manchester City winger Adam Johnson according to Talksport.

Roberto Mancini appears unconvinced by the former Middlesbrough wide-man after he made just 16 appearances from the starting line-up last season.

The England international was a snip at just £7million when City brought him in from Championship club Middleborough back in January 2010.

Mancini would be prepared to sell the 24-year old with the club boasting various options for the left flank including Gareth Barry, David Silva, Mario Balotelli, Shaun Wright-Phillips and James Milner.

With UEFA’s financial fair play set to come into place at the end of next year, City may have to start selling to reduce their massive wage bill.

I’ve just read of Lampard statement, refusing to play as a defensive midfielder coz he loves getting into the opponents box. I beliv in AVB, I beliv he knows why he sighned for Chelsea, Let Lamps , Drogba en Malouda coz all those 3 can spoil the broath. Now let us leave A J.

Whoever thinks lamps should leave Chelsea ain’t a true blue!! He’s the best central midfielder Chelsea ever had. Chelsea missed his attacking spirit last season big time and wen he came back and got his form he proved he’s still got what it takes.

Dave noodle u’re right but I’d like lampard to take the coaching order also I’d want andre villas boas to convert mikel 4rm defensive role to the offensive role and if we can remember the days of mikel in the u20 world cup in holland and his performance then earn him second world best behind lionel messi b/4 mourinho sign him and later convert him to defensive midfielder and since then mikel lost his scoring momentum. My advice to AVB is to give mikel an offensive role to play bcoz the days of lampard in chelsea team is now going to the end.

Chelsea have let their squad age too much. Torres is sh!t, he couldn’t even score in Thailand!
How much has the Russian wasted on washed up strikers and managers?
I can’t think of a decent Chelsea signing since Jose left.
Maybe he will let the new guy get on with it, and keep his nose out.
Still the second best team in England. The Arabs are way behind and don’t have a winning mentality.

What’s all this folks, I thought we were commenting on the Adam Johnson link. I think Johnson would be a great addition with his pace, vision and direct play. He loves running at people but I hear Mancini may only be interested in letting him go because of his off field antics so AVB will need to straighten him out there. Now, re Lampard; Noodles is of course right, he’s a legend and takes great care of himself, no coincidence our form slump came when he was injured and he still managed 13 goals and 6+ assists with only a third of the season played. Case rested, I’m off for cuppa!
