Chelsea Ace: I Won’t Hang Around Too Long

By on July 29, 2011

Chelsea playmaker Frank Lampard admits he’ll know when its to hang up his boots.

The midfielder has been one of the highest scoring midfielder’s of his generation and the England international believes when his body can no longer make an impact on the team; he’ll decide to call it a day.

“I have never been a defensive kind of player,” he was quoted as saying on The Sun’s website. “I love getting up and down the pitch and arriving late into the penalty area.

“If I felt I wasn’t getting there, I wouldn’t want to hang around too long. I’ll be the first to know when I’m no longer capable of doing that job. Mind you, I’ll probably have been sold before then!”

The 33-year old is entering his 11th season with the Blues and has scored an impressive 115 goals in 344 Premiership appearances for the club bettering a goal in every three games. Quite an accolade for a midfielder.

Frank’s got to learn to be humble like Ryan Giggs or Paul Scholes. He just can’t accept dat his time is almost up but dat is de truth that he just has to accept.

I don’t understand how he’;s being greedy or not being humble. He’s a great player but clearly aging, which he accepts. BUT he’s still performing above most midfielders in the world. By him saying this, he literally is taking one for the team, NOT being greedy and selfish. Don’t know what you two are on about.

The main reasons for Englands failure is mainly down to greedy lampard and gerrard trying to out do each other in midfield. They never played as a partnership.
Anyone who knows anything about football, knows England would av done better without them. Scholes and any bog standard holding midfielder would av done a much better job.
It’s got to the stage where I don’t even watch England anymore.
