“Juan Mata Will Sign A New Contact And Stay At Valencia”

By on August 1, 2011

Well respected Spanish journalist Guillm Balague has claimed Arsenal have blown their chances of signing Juan Mata and the player will now get a new contract and stay at Valencia.

Arsenal had all but agreed a deal that would see Mata move to North London for a fee of 23m EURO’s, a figure that triggered a release clause in Mata’s contract, however a deadline of midnight on the 31st July was also in place for Valencia to have received the funds for the transfer.

The Gunners failed to meet that deadline meaning Valencia can now increase the asking price to over 30m EURO’s, a figure Arsenal are unlikely to meet.

Balague stressed that Mata made it clear he would only leave Valencia for either Barcelona or Arsenal, ruling out a potential move to Tottenham who had also made an enquiry. On Sunday Mata eagerly awaited news but no call from Arsenal came and according to Balague, the transfer is now all but dead and the most likely scenario will be that Mata gets a new bumper deal and remains at Valencia for at least another season.

The reason for Arsenal’s cold feet remains unclear, but this news is unlikely to go down well with the Emirates faithful who are growing increasingly frustrated at the clubs lack of investment.

***UPDATE*** Juan Mata’s father has since confirmed Arsenal have had a bid rejected for his son, but he believes the Gunners will be back with another bid. More on this when we get it….

Been saying this would happen for weeks, since the first rumour broke, and everyone said i was talking out of my a**. Well ta-da! Here’s your proof. Why would a player leave his home country for two clubs below the level of the one he’s at now? Valencia have sold their biggest players; David Villa, Divid Silva, and they’re still a top 3 side. Respect where its due to a top team.

@Me YOU shut up please. What he’s said is absoloutely right. Unfortunatley we’ve seen the gunners slip away from being title contenders and will be fighting for 4th this season with the scouse and the spuds. Cant deny the truth when it hits.

Do you really compare the premier league to la liga? Valencia finished 21 points(!!!) below real madrid
it’s like saying Marseille are a better team than real because they are french champions

Marseille aren’t french champions. Lille are. and of course they finished light years behind real, they’re the 2nd best squad in the world! Put either of the top 2 spanish sides in the epl and they’ll claim 1st and 2nd. As demonstrated in a recent champions league final in which their champions cleanly wipped ours. Look at Valencia’s actual number of wins/draws/losses, they impress far more than arsenal’s or spus’ or any of that 3rd-6th area.

every season it’s a two horse race between madrid and braca nobody else comes close. there is usually a maximum of 5-10 points seperating those in the top 5 of the EPL.

Mate look at your own comment before asking someone else that.. ”are you dumb or stupid?” :/ anyway.. no i am not saying they’re a bigger club than arsenal. arsenal have 13 titles and a lot of cups. I’m saying that right now arsenal is not attractive enough a prospect to make the lad move away from his own country to fight a losing battle against the current top 3 (2 of which dont deserve to be there). Point me out 1 week where arsenal havn’t been in the news for something bad. Either a player saying he wants out or a poor on pitch performance, it’s not the happy club you’d expect it to be having won all those trophies. Arsenal a bigger CLUB, Valencia for the moment a better TEAM to be at.

Take heart. Valencia have cash problems and having to offer players more cash is not the way to solve them. If Fabregas or Nasri is sold the club can still afford to buy him… and know that they must. If they don’t break the bank to sign this one and fail to convince this season they know that we WILL revolt.

Guillm Belague… ‘well respected’… Errr… No… The press assumed sky sports would have to sack him last year after he got 100% of his stories wrong, and pulled the brand into disrepute.

    cjc-
Mata had already agreed to join us by all accounts. So your point that he wouldnt want to come is incorrect and your views are redundant.
    A bitter rival fan methinks!
Try to deal with the facts, its not too hard. Mata was all set to join!

I’d go even further to say that if Guillm Belague says were not gonna get him, then we almost definitely are. Remember Guillm hasn’t got one story right in two years now. WOOHOO we’ve got Mata… YES

It is begining to surprise me how Gazidis manages to negociate his way out of his house every morning. From what I have seen so far, he seems wholly incapable. From the moment he made the same bid for Fulham;s keeper, after it had been rejected three months previously, I knew that there was something suspect about the man’ capacity to be the leader of our club. Since then, he has gone on to surpass himself. Cesc issue – unresolved, Nas issue – unresolved, defensive issue – unresolved. Gooners can only sit tight and pray for a miracle that will get us a conlusion.
