Legend: ‘New Signing Gerrard’ Still Has Plenty To Offer

By on August 10, 2011

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has blasted critics for writing of club captain Steven Gerrard and insists the midfield dynamo has plenty of life left yet.

The England international has been sidelined since March and will not return to action until at least September. Gerrard has had a list of injuries in recent years, with some suggesting his best years are behind him. But team-mate Carragher was quick to defy Gerrard’s critics:

“There’s still plenty more to come from Steven Gerrard,” said Carragher.

“He’s one of the best, if not the best, player to play in the Premier League over the past decade.

“When Stevie is back playing it will be like we’ve just signed a great new player.

“He’s still got four or five years ahead of him to play for Liverpool.”
