TRANSFER NEWS: Arsenal & Liverpool Battle For £8m Ace

Kenny Dalglish and Arsene Wenger are set to go head-to-head over the signing of Birmingham’s Scott Dann.

Arsenal assistant manager Pat Rice and chief scout Steve Rowley watched Birmingham centre half Scott Dann play in a friendly match against Tottenham on Tuesday and Arsene Wenger is ready to submit a bid as he looks to bolster his defensive options. Dann just one of a number of defenders linked with a move to North London. Wenger has also bee linked with Premiership trio Christopher Samba, Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka.

Liverpool have identified Dann as the long term successor to Kop legend Jamie Carragher and the Reds are thought to be the 24-year-olds preferred option as he’s a life-long Liverpool fan.

The Brum defender is rated at around £8million and is expected to leave St Andrews following the clubs relegation to the Championship.

Dann is better than Jagielka, he is not my first choice. But if Arsenal can only afford around £15m and want 2 Centre Backs then Mertesacker and Dann is a better option that just Cahill or Jagielka. If we are to spend that sort of money on 1 defensive player it has to be Vertonghen.

I have heard we could get Dann, Mertesacker, Enrique and Barton for the same price of Cahill. Well i am sorry we have to go for that deal.

Why on earth would he sign for Arsenal? You Gooners are deluded because not only he is a Liverpool fan, but was also a former season ticket holder at Anfield. Liverpool is the only destination for him. Mark my words.

24 hours to kick off,i should be full of beans, but like thousands of Arsenal
supporters,i feel very low.Iv’e taken it
    as done,that we have lost,Fabregas,and
Nasri, the trouble is we have all known
this would happen since the end of last season, apart from our short sighted so
called manager, and only now is he looking for replacements,i wonder sometimes about this guy.I predicted when the transfer window opened, that when it closed,Arsenal would be a much more wealthy club, money wise, but bankrupt on the field of play.LOOKING at
the players he’s bought,i’m not really impressed, where are all these super signings you were on about arsene, is that another lie,all i see is a gang of young kids who could make it in five years time, what we need now is experienced players.I WISH ALL ARSENAL
