Liverpool Confirm Midfielder Leaving Anfield

By on August 26, 2011

It is official,  Alberto Aquilani has moved to AC Milan on a loan deal. A statement on Liverpool.tv said:

Liverpool FC have reached an agreement, subject to a medical, for Alberto Aquilani to join AC Milan on loan for the remainder of the current season. The deal includes an option to make the move a permanent one.

Director of Football Damien Comolli said: “I want to pay tribute to the way Alberto has conducted himself during these discussions.

“Throughout the entire process, his only desire has been to play football and he has put this ahead of any other considerations and at personal cost to himself. We wish him well for the season ahead.”

Well, pity that a player of such high caliber couldn’t stay around till at least January to see how he fares in the Premier League. Although, I must say, why did his desire to play football end up taking him to Sardinia for a holiday last week? Unanswered questions.

Well, pity that a player of such high caliber couldn’t stay around till at least January to see how he fares in the Premier League.

He has played in the premier league and it was obvious to all (except maybe you) that his style and his frame make him unsuitable for the EPL, he plays fantastic football but the EPL doesnt allow you the time to play the style of football he is used to. By the time he has done some neat trickery in the EPL he will be lying on the floor wondering where the ball has gone. Great in Italy not so good in the rough n tumble world of English football.

I wish him all the best, as he seems like a nice guy, but like Roy Hodgson, not for us!! 🙂
