[TEAMS ANNOUNCED] Man Utd vs Arsenal: Vermaelen & Sagna Out, United Unchanged

By on August 28, 2011

Man Utd host Arsenal at Old Trafford this afternoon and the Gunners arrive with a severely depleted squad to choose from. Thomas Vermaelen and Bacary Sagna both miss out through injury and illness. They join a long list of injuries and suspensions leaving Arsene Wenger picking reserve player Coquelin in the centre of midfield. Man Utd are unchanged from the side that beat Tottenham last Monday. Here are the starting line-ups:

Man Utd Team:

De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Evra, Nani, Cleverley, Anderson, Young, Rooney, Welbeck

Subs: Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Giggs, Park, Berbatov, Chicharito, Fabio.

Arsenal Team:

Szczesny, Jenkinson, Koscielny, Djourou, Traore, Ramsey, Coquelin, Walcott, Rosicky, Arshavin, van Persie

Subs: Fabianski, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chamakh, Lansbury, Miquel, Ozyakup, Sunu

It’s been coming for several years. This season will be a write off and next too when we (may) have a different Manager who first of all has to reorganise everything.

” In Arsene we Trust ” idiots … IDEAS PLEASE ?????

I agree with a lot of what has been said, but its not AW fault we have 3 suspended, 2 of which were silly, 1 ill and the rest injurd. Lets see what happens and judge him on the 1 Sept All the best to all Arsenal fans, keep the faith

Can you not understand ? This has been coming for several years. Even the players have given up on the Wenger grand plan. That’s partly why the best have been leaving and why we can only attract youngsters to join.
We no longer have any balance between attack / defence ; youth / experience ; technique / strength.

It is 3 .. 0 and I can’t watch any more. I want the ‘ Arsene is God fans ‘ to think really really hard and explain how …

    > he cannot see Djourou is a big athlete but soft and never never a defender ?

    > And how he won’t spend £6m on Enrique because we have Gibbs and Traore to play in the Premiership and the Champions League ??

    > And that poor young Jenkinson can do the same after being in non league 6 months ago ???

It is simply laughable and yet tragic. I don’t say this lightly … I do not believe Wenger is any judge of a defender nor of how to drill a tight defensive unit.

The end score could be anything and if only 0/3 we will be lucky. ” We are shit and we know you are is exactly right !!!”

ENOUGH!!! No players in an open t window and 100 million quid! this is the worst run club in the world.

    Its time to find out….

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE? ITS WENGER OR THE BOARD. WHICH EVER IT IS NEEDS SORTING AND QUICK!!! HORRIFIC.

You don’t understand that the players themselves have given up on Wenger’s purist, intellectual, blinkered game plan. That in part is why 3 of our best have left and why other established top players won’t join. We can only attract youngsters.

I yearn for the day when Arsene’s die hard supporters even begin to comprehend how deep the club’s problems run.

    Sack Wenger and the board

    • chris from Cambridge

      August 28, 2011 at 6:30 pm

      > Well the Board could sack Wenger … if the overall majority shareholder agrees. Not otherwise.

      > The Board could be sacked by the same man. His name is Stan Kroenke but he is terribly busy in the USA and knows very little about football.

In Arsene we trust dullards …. IDEAS PLEASE ?????????????

A message to ” Arsene We Trust ” fans … what do you say now ???

We were terribly unlucky ? We had lots and lots of players out ?

What you should be explaining to the rest of us is >>> How Arsene …

    > Cannot see Djourou is a big soft athlete and never never a defender ?

    > And why he won’t spend £6m on Enrique because we have Gibbs and Traore to play in the Premiership and the Champions League ??

    > And how ditto poor young Jenkinson can do the same after being in non league 6 months ago ? Of course the lad was not up to it.

It is simply laughable and yet tragic. I don’t say this lightly … I do not believe Wenger is any judge of a defender nor of a drilled defensive unit.

” We are shit and we know we are is exactly right !” This has not just happened. It has been coming for a long time.

I am utterly disgusted, Man u was not that good, but arsenal players are mentally affected because of departures. V Persie is not an ideal captain, neither he is my first choice striker, arsenal needs an awesome striker who can split goal scoring opponent’s defense and create chances for goals.

It is easy to critisize the manager when the result is bad.Don’t forget that Arsenal suffered injuries and sending off which is not the managers fault.Any team played 5 games in 10 days and 8 first team players out can suffer the same fate at Old traford. Totenham played with the strongest team and at home but hammered by Manchester City, but no one said it is Harry’s fault or questioned their defences. You can’t be a supporter when the result is only good. I believe Arsenal will bounce back strong with players coming back and new signings. Gooner for life!!!!!!

i think AW should wake up if he is still dreaming, and face the reality of football, no spending no trophy.
