REPORTS: Brazilian Flying To London For Medical After £6m Deal Agreed

By on August 30, 2011

Brazilian left back Andre Santos is set to travel to London today to finalise a £6m deal and join Arsenal from Fenerbache.

Fenerbache announced to the Istanbul Stock Exchange that they have agreed a deal to sell Santos to a foreign club, with reports in Turkey naming Arsenal as the buying club.  A £6m deal is in place and Santos will now travel to London to put the final touches on the transfer and undergo a medical.

The Gunners are in desperate need of a left back with Armand Traore closing in on a move to QPR and Kieran Gibbs struggling with injuries, and it seems Arsene Wenger had identified the experienced 28-year-old World Cup winner as the man to fill the void.

Santos is not a world cup winner. All he’s won with Brazil is the Confederations Cup.

Still a decent signing, I’d been getting worried by the lack of gossip about left backs, we’re very weak there, evidenced by the fact that our right back is our preferred back-up at left-back.

i dont get the timing. Clichy left ages ago and that left gibbs and presumably traore. I got the feeling wenger wanted to put TV5 there and get a centre-back or 2.
NO centre-backs which left it to gibbs and traore..although sagna can play there…..traore is not even a back up player, so our lack of quality was there at the start of the season. This signing is 2 or 3 weeks too late.
