Good to see such insightful and reasoned analysis based upon a handful of games.
Personally I’d rather go with the nous and instincts of King Kenny, the football legend who has playing and managerial experience.

His January price ‘ll be 10-12mn, at best & losing 25mn over a period (+ we ‘ll have to spend another 25mn at least to find a quality replacement) might be too big a pill to sallow. Also, we spend obnoxious amount for average players to build a team around AC.
However, it’s not all lost yet considering AC’s age. We should look to loan him (His salary is not that high for mid or lower mid table clubs) in EPL clubs, where he can start regularly. If he can prove better, we can bring him back or sell at a higher price than Jan ’12.
You can replace Carroll with Henderson, in aforementioned 2 paras & adjust the amount proportionally. Had it not been KK & FSG, we have seen a lot of managerial sackings previously, for lesser transfer goof-ups.

Agree with the above comment. Mugs like you slated Lucas too. Now he’s a key part of the team. What happened to giving players time?
Gav

Key part of the team? What the hell have you been smoking? Lucas is bad in the tackle, passes to whoever is standing next to him, no matter if their marked or not. Doesn’t bring any creativity to the team and gives away too many free kicks in dangerous areas. In a few years you’l look back and wonder what the hell we were doing playing him all the time. Nuff said!

Don’t agree with any of that, and as a defensive midfielder he’s not paid to offer any creativity. He’s there to break up the play and then pass the guys around him who can/should be. I’d give him the captaincy when SG retires.

even adam can break up the play and then pass the ball to some1 around him
adam is 1 heck of a player
lucas is shit..

First of all lucas isn’t a defensive midfielder. He was put into that position by rafa. He was bought as an attacking midfielder. If you compare him to masherano who did a great job for us, or any other def mid in the the perm then you’l realise that he’s a few steps behind most of them. If we’re going to challenge for the top four then we need a proper def mid to hold the play and break up the oppositions play. Lucas I’m afraid just can’t do this.

Everyone was shit against spurs, not just Lucas. I don’t care what position he was brought as, he plays the holding role now. I think too many people said he was shit at first and can’t admit they were wrong.

Well said Gav. At least you are intelligent enough to see it. Poor old KD can’t see it. Lucas is worse than an average player.

With his 4 league titles and 2 FA cups (and countless more honours as a player) I reckon ‘poor old kenny’ has more intelligence than the pair of you combined. Lucas was quality against wolves today.

Yeah, assuming someone offers around 10m pds or so…Exactly who decided he was worth 35m in the 1st place? We should be careful when dealing with other peoples’ money…

Selling would be insane. The purchase should not have taken place, but we can’t dwell on the past.
For me, Kenny needs to drop Carroll and Henderson to the beach at very least. The side on Wed, bar some of the junior players looked very balanced in comparison to the unbalanced side in the EPL.
For me, Carra, Henderson, Adam and Carroll should not be in the starting XI.
Reina
Kelly Coates Skrtel Enrqiue
Lucas Spearing
Maxi Bellamy Downing
Suarez
Assuming it takes Stevie a few games to find his match fitness.

good squad but i will go more like this:
Reina
Kelly,Coates,Skrtel,Enrique
Lucas
Kuyt,Gerrard,Downing
Suarez,Bellamy
we can use this formation at home. KD should try this for the 1st 45 and the look at bringing in Carrol and Spearing if Gerrard tires and also to protect Bellamy’s knees. long season ahead. if we lose one of our live wires up front. we will be in a pickle.

this is sticky one. not too sure that selling him will do it though. compare Newcastle to Liverpool is a BIG step and i think he is over awed by the stage. he is powerfull in the air but his first touch needs to be improved on. his pace is seruisly lacking and does not position himself well. all this can be down to playing for a bigger team with huge expecations. i’m sure KD is working on him and only time will tell. it’s taken Rooney 6 seasons to finally hit the mark at MANURE. right now he is untouchable. his pace, running into space and movement off the ball is brilliant. give Caroll more time guys, 3 seasons under KD and he will be the best CF in the game. luckily, we have good players like Suarez, Kuyt and Bellamy to step in now that Caroll is lacking on cofidence.

The more variations in attack you have the better. Carrol needs to have a strike partner to antisapate and make runs of him and that for me is going to be Stevie G as he did for FT and Crouch.
Then will be the time to judge.

John Toher?
What an idiot.
Andy Carrol was bought for his potential not the player he is now. I’d say think Toshack but you won’t know who the fuck I’m talking about.
Stick to computer games John and never darken our doorstep again.

Carroll is ill-fitted to the Liverpool game currently. Let’s call a spade a spade, he was a panic buy after Torres left. Not the most thought out reaction, it has to be said in hindsight. I think loaning him out and taking him out of the spotlight for to hone his skills elsewhere might not be a bad idea. It’d be better for him, and the team in the long run actually.

people dont seem to want to accept lessons and facts.
we lack pace, creativity and class.
againist arsenal,
frimpong was running past lucas like he was standing.
aganist tottenham mordric was pulling the strings in midfield with
pace, creative link up play and tearing passes like
adams was invicible.
not to forget bale running like he was possesed.
what happens when we meet againist a team with pace
and creativity,,.
they will tear us to pieces such that no one will remember tottenham game
