Roberto: “Manchester United Are Better Than Barcelona”

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez believes Manchester United are better than European Champions Barcelona.

Barcelona are regarded by many as the greatest team in recent history after their dominance in Europe and La Liga, combined with their majestic passing football.

However, despite their accolades in recent years the Latics boss feels United have the edge of their Spanish counterparts. He told talkSPORT:

“In many ways they (Manchester United) are better than Barcelona – that’s just down to the mentality, the belief and they way they approach games.

“What Barca have is the way they play the game, they are very unique, you won’t see another team in world football that will rely on 900 passes to win the game. The pattern of their play is impossible to compare.

“But United have a blend and mentality in the squad that is the best in world football. It’s just a matter of beating a team like Barca in a one-off game and see who can be European champions, as I believe they are on a different level than anyone else.”

  ..everyone forgets that we beat Barca shortly after the CL final. They had No messi, but we had no Rooney.
  
  The united team of the last 2 CL finals is not as strong as it is now. I think with the addition of Cleverly, Jones, Smalling and a 4-4-2 ….we could give them a run for their money.

some coaches are just mad just like Roberto, how can you write a meaningless article, “saying they are unique and plays ball that no other team in history play” is this not enough to understand that barca is better than manchester united? barca defeated united in 2 uefa finals scoring 5 in all and united only score one,the same united that conquered england and boast of fitness. Barca is poor but we need united again.
