Dalglish Not Using Squad To Full Potential At Lucky Liverpool

Surprisingly for me, I don’t have that much to say this week. I guess the old thing about “You only sing when you’re winning” doesn’t really apply to me. I only pipe up when Liverpool are playing rubbish or when there’s been some enormous upset. So, you may ask, you got three points yesterday and got through to the next round of the Carling Cup so why are you bothering us?

Well, yes it’s been a good week for Liverpool, and they’ve edged a little higher up the Premiership table and they’ve put their recent dismal run behind them and I should be lording the return of Captain Fantastic Steven Gerrard and Craig Bellamy’s first goal for the club following his return.

That’s all well and good, but to be honest, I’m not convinced. Let’s face it, Liverpool couldn’t even keep a clean sheet against Brighton so let’s not get carried away by their current run of “form”. That said, the results count and they are advancing nonetheless. Liverpool were very fortunate. OK, one or two decisions have gone against us recently, but I don’t think Lady Luck is going to take us as far as some good solid performances.

I don’t think Kenny Dalglish is using the squad he has at his disposal to it’s full potential. Why? Because, he persists in playing Andy Carroll. I’m beginning to think that the more money a player costs, the more games he’s going to get. Liverpool paid nothing for Craig Bellamy and he’s only played one full game. And scored I should add. Liverpool paid a King’s ransom for Carroll and he’s played in most games, scoring a grand total of zero in the league, one in the cup and a couple in pre-season.

Considering those stats, you’d think Dalglish would give Bellamy a run of games. The guy has hunger, skill, pace and, for me, the right attitude. Surely he’s got more to offer than simply playing in the cup against lowly opposition. If Liverpool progress, I’d like to see Bellamy remain in the team but he should be worth a go in the league, surely.

All that said, and moaning out of the way, I’ve got to be satisfied with this week’s results and the points on the board are welcome. I won’t be getting carried away that’s for sure. The next two games are against Everton away and Manchester United at home. I’d love to think we could get six points from those two but I won’t be holding my breath.

Away from that, it’s been a very interesting week in the Premiership. Having seen Stoke’s result against Manchester United, I’m beginning not to feel so despondent about Liverpool’s result. Stoke are turning out to be a very capable side and any manager that can get Peter Crouch to score with a header has to be worth a mention. Well done, Tony Pulis.

Elsewhere. Fernando Torres showed why Kenny Dalglish made the sale of the century in getting £50m from Chelsea for him. The Spaniard topping a quality finish to put Chelsea ahead with the daftest of challenges to get himself sent off. Oh dear. He’s not having the best of luck (there’s that word again) at the moment.

Arsenal were the biggest climbers with their 3-0 victory over Bolton. Now upto the lofty position of 12th. No surprises there, even the fact that Theo Walcott’s finishing is so poor. I have to ask this question: What’s going on with Gervinho’s hair? A good win for Arsenal, and the beleaguered Arsene Wenger won’t be needing the sleeping tablets this week.

Well apart from the fact that you have ZERO qualifications to run a soccer team compared to KD, no one at LFC really cares either whether you think KD is using the squad to your liking or not haha.

well said. one of the worst articles I’ve read. what does it matter what an ignorant git thinks. clearly has no concept of team balance (bellamy is not a natural substitute for Carrol, Kuyt is) player development (give all the matches to players in their mid 30’s as opposed to early 20’s, really?) and well, everything else remotely related to football. I suggest the blogger start with football manager, but make sure to set it to ‘easy’ to begin with.

What utter nonsense. How were we lucky. We hit the bar twice and their goal keeper had to make more saves than Reina. We didn’t play well in the 2nd half but did more than enough to win comfortably and would have done if we were more clinical.

Be patient. Dalglish will be on his way soon. He is going to stir up a lot of embarrassing fervour for the owners that the only option that would be left to them will be to dispense of his services. Watch this space.

Well yes, we’ve had just a bit of luck lately – welcome change from none at all. But who cares. So often it’s Lucky Man Utd that wins the titles, so why not Lucky Liverpool for once. It’s not as if many previous champions have got there by playing the best football on the pitch. Certainly Utd haven’t.

I was one of those supporters who was happy when Liverpool bought Carrol although like many Liverpool supporters i felt Liverpool paid too much for him. I must admit i am disappointed with him and feel that he should rather start on the bench. I certainly do not believe that KD is picking the best side at his disposal and fear that this may be his undoing. Come July we may see some of our top players wanting to leave because Liverpool are not playing an winning brand of football

I don’t reckon Andy Carrol is to blame. I reckon Henderson and Lucas are the wek links. I’d bring in Spearing for Lucas and Bellamy in for Henderson and make it clear to the team that just because Carroll is playing we dont have to play long balls all the time. Mix it up sometimes wide, sometimes long and sometimes short pass and move.

Well said and so true. Even I’ve said it many times before that the weakest link is due to Lucas, and so surprised at seeing him playing regularly. Makes me vomit as Lucas cannot tackle, dribble, head, weak body contact and so on. Just boundless energy running around the field doing nothing.

Just watched the match this evening on LFC TV. No luck involved. Could have won by 3 or 4 goals.

Only bad period was the first 20mins or so of the second half.

Dalglish please sell or send carroll on a season long loan so that he will go and get match fitness lfc isn’t that kind of place for him now, if u have the progress of lfc at heart. Carroll is not just fit to be a lfc player not to talk of been a first team player when the likes of kuyt, ballamy are warming the bench. Please Dalglish try and offload carroll come january transfer window for the good of all.

Some of you assholes in here talk as jf you had managing experience, absolute nonsense, clearly your not true fans. Lucas had been one of the most consistent players this and last season if you think offloading him will solve anything your absolutely wrong. That leaves a deft Croce midfield void that can’t be filled by spearig cuz he doesn’t have enough experience playing thatholding role. Your fools for thinking king Kenny is doing poorly

kk should b careful with the way he’s handling suarez or else suarez is gonna tend in a transfer request just like mereiles & torres with rumours dat mourinho and guardiola sniffing their noses around him

For me I strongly respect and believe in king kenny but I also concur with the idea of loaning carroll out for like 6months not that he is not good, he is a fantastic player but he is not just fit enough and we have the likes of kuyt and Bellamy who can make things go well for us immediately.

Plz kkD, We love Suarez n woun’t want him 2 leave, because we bought carol very expensive and would want him 2 play every game because of his price tag. If we are to get a replacement 4 fernando Torres, it should be Fenando Lorente. But 4 now, we should go wit Bellamy, kuyt, Suarez, up front. 4 3 3 formation kelly, carra/skrtel, agger/coates, enrique, lucas, gerrad, adams, kuyt, suarez, downin/bellamy.

What i believe lfc lack is creativity. D only person dat has got it is suarez which makes d load too much for him. Carrol is not a good combination for him. Get Fernando Lorente or Hulk to pair wiv him. Adam johnson, modric, eva benega.

I would prefer Lennon or Adam Johnson to Downin, because they’ve got dat creative spark to support suarez. Upfront, i’d go for lorente or Hulk to combine wiv suarez. In d middle, i’d go for eva banega(lucas) and modric (charlie Adams/ henderson).

What a load of nonsense being spouted on here. Lucas isn’t good enough? Carroll is rubbish and unfit? Did anyone watch the game on Saturday because Lucas was great amd Carroll was awesome bar finishing and movement. He can cross and pulled off a great cross field pass to Hendo. Lay off him.

Football is nt easy, managing is not easy! Who cares, but they are earning their cool cash. No job dat brings in money is easy so pls don’t give me dat. Cos engineering also is nt easy. I taught Benitez was d most stubborn manager i’ve eva seen, now Kenny is working hard to win dat award. Let these young boys(Henderson&Carol) learn from d bench if they are nt playin wel, they are stil young. How can u bench a midwk goal scorer for a huge drunkard,It’s unbelievable.

There is something i still don’t understand when they say Lucas is good. U have a midfielder that rarely scores& u still go about town saying he is good. U can say he is a Dm,but Macherano was our Dm years back&he gets d goals, talk of Alonso! I think some Lfc fans have realy taken their time to ADAPT to the ‘bull-shit’ goin on in d club as for me i won’t support rubbish,i’ll criticize when i need to. How can u say Kenny knows best,is he the god of futball? He’s human like us& so can make mistakes. So shld be criticize wheneva he makes any esplly when he makes one repeatedly. U guys shld wake up Lucas is just a player who has improvd from below average to an average level. He’s like Mikel of chelsea. No goal, only tackles and average passes and mayb nice passes once in a while. What a contribution for a team aspiring for top 4!

carroll shit hes nt a liverpool player. i wud drop him and henderson 4 bellamy and kuyt who both scored midweek. and are experience quality players!! carroll and henderson are young they can learn from bellamy and kuyt its goin to be very intresting over the next few weeks were playing are two arch enemys wot team kenny guuna pick? but im postive king kenny wil gt it right WE NEVER WALK ALONE….

kenny daglish is too too sturbon, he knows the truth but he just decides to have faith on carrol and henderson, these boys were bought for the future not now, loan them out let them go and get match fittness, then u can later bring them back, thank God we have expirienced and goal hungry stikers lyk kuyt bellamy. I wonder y kenny daglish keeps on making suarez to b unhappy by alwyz substituting him, while he givs carrol which is a flop playing tym. Am just praying suarwez shudnt b angry to a point of handing in a transfer request

It’s a pity Dalglish has sold Meireles. He would have been the right person to nurture Henderson into along.
