Szczesny Critical Of Spurs Performance

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny admits he should have done better for Tottenham’s second goal in their derby defeat.

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny admits he should have done better for Tottenham’s second goal in their derby defeat.

The confident goalie had no complaints with Tottenham’s controversial first goal, scored by Rafael van der Vaart who appeared to handled the ball before finding the net.  However, the Polish stopper believes he should have done better with Kyle Walker’s 25-yard winner.

“I didn’t see the handball, I thought he controlled it and finished very well,” the Pole told “It was a good finish.

“The second goal I was very disappointed in myself – I shouldn’t get beaten from that kind of distance so I will take that myself.

“There was a lot of movement on the ball and I reacted too late. I got a touch on it but it wasn’t strong enough. I blame myself for the second one but other than that I didn’t think the team deserved to lose the game.”

I think it means ‘Szczesny critical of his Spurs performance’. Not the best headline it terms of clarity though…

So all you gooners that say it was handball, incliuding Wenger, Szczesny was probably the closest to Rafa and facing him and he says he did not see a handball and he took his goal very well. Says a lot about the biassed gooners doesn’t it lol?

Says more about Sczczcerny, didn’t see the hand-ball, didn’t see the ball… Was there a dog standing next to him, by any chance?

Infact Szczesny should learn to talk less and allow his game to do the talking! He has already shipped in alot of goals in only seven games of the season!!!

But that is due to his crap defence. You could be the best goalkeeper in the world, but you would still let loads of goals in if your defence is as good as ARSEnals

I love this keeper, not a massive fan of his personality but an excellent keeper and Arsenal deserve one after the crap they have had in goal since Lehmann.

I am espiecially happy he viewed VDVaarts goal as no hand ball, honestly people need to understand what a hand is, the ball actually is controlled with his anterior deltoid which is located in the upper part of the shoulder, which is hot hand ball, people can argue about him using his bicep as a source of control but that also isnt the case.

Get over it now, Spurs won and deserved to win, 7 clear cut chances to Arsenals 2 is the reason we won.

Your tippy tappy backwards play in the centre of midfield doesnt justify a win.

I am suprised and profoundly happy to hear such honesty from The Arsenal Keeper … good on him. I thought he was a bit unlucky with the second goal I thought it swerved a bit and that would have made it hard to adjust to.
I hope the rest of Arsenals supporter base hear him say this, get on with it and move forwards.

Good honesty from the goalkeeper apart from the fact that he thinks Arsenal should have got something out of the game. That’s the rpoblem right now – toatl denial.

Surely the headline should have read Szczesny critical of his own performance as opposed to critical of Spurs performance however, refreshing to hear him say that as far as he was concerned, he didnt see Rafa handball and finished well. Really, Gooners fans and their manager are very sore losers and find it very hard to accept any defeat with dignity and humility whats so ever. I suppose it’s reflective of that club.

This Goalie is honest…….kudos to him.

I don’t understand why so many supporters can agree with Wenger on the “handball”. Wenger always fail to “see things/incidents” on the field right?

This incident shows Wenger true character….or rather the lack of it.

What is it with keepers at arsenal, reminds me of a certain German who cost his team the game. His explanation, “well he was offside!” Before you critic maybe you should look at your own mistakes, Adebyor should have waltzed round you when you came out and missed the ball. You were out of posn when Defoe tried to chip you.
Ah well, charity begins at home

Three reasons why Harry teams struggled bad finishing good saves and Playin Van on the Wing with Lennon we would have won easier

Are you sure? Azza has been pants so far this season- better if we had Sandro in the middle, with Modders on the right & VDV with Ade. Though JD has been impressive so far this season.

“Other than that, the 2 goals we conceeded compared to the 1 we could only score, we didn’t deserve to lose!…….”

    Agree with Daniel.
What Arsenal’s fans & manager(Idid not see it) seem to be missing here is the fact that.
    1. That was Ars’s best performance of the season so far
2.That was arguable our worst performance at Home for a while
    3. We won 2-1

    Happy day’s
