“I Think Chelsea Will Try To Sign Modric Again In January”

By on October 12, 2011

Chelsea legend Ruud Gullit believes the Blues still need Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric and wouldn’t be surprised if they made another move in the January transfer window.

Modric was subject to several bids from Chelsea in the summer, with the final offer thought to be worth up to £40million, and the Croatian was keen on the move even handing in a transfer request in order to push though a deal.

However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy stood firm and refused to sell and now the 26-year-old is set for a new bumper pay package at White Hart Lane, but Gullit insists Chelsea still lack creativity and should make a fresh move for Modric in January.

“The player Chelsea still need, for me, is Modric,” Gullit said at the Golden Foot awards in Monte Carlo.

“They have great players all around the pitch but he has something Chelsea doesn’t have at the moment. He is creative and dominates the passing game in the midfield – he could be like Xavi or Iniesta are to Barcelona.

“I was surprised Tottenham didn’t accept £40m because they are known to sell their best players for good offers. I think Chelsea will try to sign Modric again in January and maybe this time they will get him.”

The Dutch hero is delighted that Andre Villas-Boas has adopted a new attacking style.

“I really like the style of football I am seeing from Chelsea under Andre Villas-Boas,” added Gullit. “I know the supporters there want to see quick, attacking football with creativity.

“They will be contenders for the Premier League and the Champions League this season, for sure.

“The new coach probably needs two full seasons before we can start to judge him. The team may have some problems this season but there is no point in appointing a young coach if you’re not going to be faithful to him and back his ideas.”

Are you some thick anti Spurs chelsea idiot.

Which part of NO do you not understand. If you tiny brain is unable to digest Levy’s word you should stop posting.

I suspect you are a sad desperate chelsea or arsenal fan, trying to destabilise Spurs via the web because Spurs are overtaking you on the field.

You may not have noticed ……. Levy said NO to £40M, and since when Luka has played the odd good game – even scored a goal against the pool …… so how much is the Russian gangster going to bid this time? Does he not realise that threatening Levy’s safety is against the law here?

This is the way Russian mafia deal with things and this is exactly the way they are trying to conduct their business once again..Right from the word go Chelsea has been involved in some sort of wrong doing Ashley Cole,Frank Arnesen,Gael Kakutta,Torres and on and on it goes..On board level they are embarassed by Levy, now they are trying with their ex players, no one gives a shit no personality, known as footballs biggest arse licker Ray Wilkins was first ,now Gullitt a great ex footballer but not even a 3rd division quality manager who cried like a little kid in front of cameras when stabbed in the back by Vialli and Bates typically Chelsea way..one little statement though Exactly why Levy is now proven to have made the correct decision in the summer when Gullitt says Spurs known to sell their best players for good money, Levy should stand firm always to wipe this negative opinion off once and for all.
