Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney has been given a 3 game ban following a disciplinary hearing today.
Rooney was sent off for kicking out at an opponent during England’s 2-2 draw with Montenegro last week, which is seem as violent conduct, and UEFA have dished out the strongest possible punishment.
The decision means Rooney will now miss the first 3 games of the European Championships next summer, which will come as bitter blow to Fabio Capello as he tries to prepare for the last major Championships in his tenure as England manager.
Rooney now has 3 days to appeal the decision and it’s widely expected the FA will take up this option.
