TRANSFER NEWS: Chelsea Set To Launch £20m Bid For South American

By on October 14, 2011

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is looking to bring in defensive replacements during the January transfer window and has set his sights on Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godwin.

Ex Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti is though to have had a £15million bid for Godwin rejected last January, and now it is AVB’s turn to try and land the talented stopper. Should he want to get the 25 year-old Uruguayian’s signature then Chelsea will have to pay around £20m.

Reports in The Sun believe Chelsea are willing to sell Brazilian defender Alex, who is wanted by North London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham, in order to make room for Godwin.

Are people just ignorant or are they stupid. We got two of the most promising left backs around waiting to get their chance after Ashley Cole, Patrick van Aanholt and Ryan Bertrand – and still the only solution people have is to buy someone else.

And by the way, the name is Godin, not Godwin.

mmmm…not so sure, I can’t help but think we’ll now be linked with every half decent CB at around the 10-20million mark who is about 24-26 years old; merely whipped up talk to help us get the right deal for Gary Cahill come January when we let Alex go. Cahill’s the man, undoubted Prem ability, on the cheapish with contract run down, English to help our quota and probably Terry’s long term England partner and eventual Chelsea and England replacement; oh and AVB and Coyle are mates and we’ll only be fighting with Spuds and Arse for the signing; deal done.
