By on October 19, 2011

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker admits its imperative for the club to finish in the top four this season.

The Gunners have picked up just 10 points from their first eight games and currently sit 10th in the table, six points behind fourth-placed Newcastle.

Despite their poor start to the season, the German international insists everyone at the club is giving it there all and the giant stopper wants to be playing Champions League football.

“It’s vital that we reach at least the top four in the league, but at the moment we don’t have the points to speak about that,” he told Arsenal’s official matchday programme.

“It’s important to perform well to make sure we move up the table. The supporters have to feel we are giving everything to succeed.

“I am here to play football, to play in the Champions League and I want to be successful in all the challenges we face this season.

But I think AW will get out this club in this year after no trophy to Arsenal ,such as tonight Arsenal will loss to OM because of his EGO with stupid passing style even the team needs to win but the manager prefers to abandon.
