Abramovich Set To Award Lampard New Contract

Roman Abramovich wants to keep Frank Lampard at Chelsea until 2015, according to a club source.

The Sunday Mirror reports that the Russian billionaire is keen to keep the veteran midfielder at the Bridge, after suggestions this month that his playing days at Chelsea were numbered.

Despite the emergence of youth in west London, the England international is highly regarded on and off the field and owner Roman Abramovich believes Lampard is the perfect role model for youngsters, like Josh McEachran and Daniel Sturridge.

“Always last off the training pitch,” said a Chelsea insider. “He is always looking to improve himself. And it is not for the benefit of Chelsea TV. He is just a great professional.”
