Sol Campbell has confirmed that Arsenal have offered him a one-year contract, but he has yet to sign that deal amid reports Celtic are interested in the 35-year-old centre-half. It has been widely reported today that Celtic would offer Campbell a 2-year contract, and although Sol has always maintained he wants to stay on at the Emirates next season he is yet to sign the one-year contract being offered from the Gunners.

“I worked very hard to get back to my best and to play in the Champions League again and I would love the opportunity to continue at Arsenal,’” Campbell told ESPN Soccernet.

“Although a one-year contract has been offered, these things take some time to thrash out. I am in no rush, I would like to stay with Arsenal if I could, however, Celtic are a massive club, a great club, with massive support.”

I hope Campbell does stay on for another year and i fully expect him to do so. He made a massive impact during the second half of the season and looking back at the injuries we sustained in the latter stages of the season i don’t know how we would have coped had we not signed him in January. His experience is invaluable for players like Clichy, Djourou and even Vermaelen to learn from so let’s get the deal done and tie him up for another year. I can understand Campbell being tempted by a longer deal from Celtic and they are a massive club, but the Scottish league is pretty pathetic really as shown by the fact even Robbie Keane managed to score nearly a goal a game up there!

Cesc does not want to leave Arsenal(yet, give it about two years)
This is Silly season and the papers are doing the their best to unsettle us led by the SUN and Rupert Murdock who would never make this kind of campaign about rooney .(“once a blue always a blue”)
Cesc will be with Arsenal next season, these are the same Pundits/rag salesman who told us Arsenal will finish outside the top four and that the tiny totts would finish above us, and that Sol would be rubbish, wrong three times.

@billy. we need campbell, and CESC can leave for the right price. Barca is making all this noise but they have not submitted a bid, you know why? cus they don’t need him, and they are not willing to part with 60M for a position they already have filled.
