TRANSFER TALK: £16m ‘New Vieira’ linked, two keepers ruled out

By Fab4.

Morning Arsenal fans, here are a few transfer rumours to distract you from the Cesc Fabregas transfer saga. If i hear the words ‘Fabregas’ and ‘Barcelona’ one more time i think I’m going to go insane. You know the transfer window is close to re-opening when you read a headline linking Arsenal to ‘the new Vieira’, and Marseille’s Stephane Mbia is the latest to be likened to the Gunners legend. With Arsenal being linked to every goalkeeper under the sun, two of the more appealing targets have ruled themselves out of a move.

Stephane Mbia

Arsenal will launch a £16m bid for Marseille’s defensive midfielder Stephane Mbia, according to the Daily Mail. The 24-year-old Cameroonian played an important role in help lead Marseille to their first league title since 1992 and is considered as one of the best midfielders in French football. He is 6ft 2in and is a powerful presence in midfield, and with good technique to boot their is no surprises he has been described as ‘the new Vieira’. But i wish people would leave that similarity alone, there will only ever be one Vieira.

Despite the vastly improved performances of Alex Song last season, many Arsenal fans are still crying out for a dominant ball-winner in midfield and Mbia has been identified as the man for the job with Wenger willing to pay £16m to get his man. Arsenal have been linked with a move for Mbia in the last couple of transfer windows and he turned down a move to Everton last summer.

Hugo Lloris

Long-term Arsenal target Hugo Lloris has declared he has no plans to leave Lyon this summer amid reported interest from both the Gunners and AC Milan. Arsene Wenger has admitted to being an admirer of Llloris and with him on the look-out for a new No1, he unsurprisingly been linked with a move for the France stopper. But the 23-year-old has no intention of leaving Lyon, but did give Gunners fans hope by teasing that the future is still uncertain.

He told France Football: “To tell the truth, I did not have to make a decision on this matter because firstly, I am still under contract with OL, and secondly, this (leaving Lyon) is not part of my short-term goals.”

“I am very well in Lyon, with how things work and where the club is. We have qualified directly for the Champions League.”

“After that, you never know what the future holds.”

Gianluigi Buffon

Buffon has distanced himself from a move to Arsenal by claiming he is totally committed to Juventus, according to Daily Tuttosport. The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League after saying if he was to leave Juve, England would be his preferred destination. With Juve in financial difficulties and having just endured a disappointing season, it was thought that Buffon would be sacrificed in order to give new boss Luigi Del Neri some transfer funds to rebuild the team.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was then heavily linked with making a move for the Italian international as he looks for a reliable No1, but although Buffon acknowledged he had heard of Arsenal’s interest he is determined to stay in Turin .

“I have not had any contact whatsoever with any other team. I never heard of interest from Arsenal and other teams….My priority is, was and will always be Juve.”Nobody can doubt my love for Juventus.”

I like MBia…and would willingly swap Diaby for him + a few Mill £. He and Sond in front of our defense is a perfect team. Then a Great CB…with height and courage is what has been missing for 4 seasons. Stop leaking stupid goals and we would have won the title twice in the past 5 years plus a few cups. Add a wonder winger like Hazard or De Maria (who AW thought he has signed 2 years ago) and we could be almost unbeatable…..OH yes sorry we must clear out the useless girly goalies we now have and add someone who will knock yobs out the way to get his ball. I go back to the Jack Kelsey days when keepers were fair game and todays pansies like Blackburn & Bolton would bounce off real men. Jack never bothered about bloody great Mickey Mouse gloves either! No wonder these pillocks keep dropping the ball etc. point..if Cesc goes and I dont think he will until January….Wilshire should be played every other game ready to take over.

What the chairman and wenger shold do first is to ask which players Fabrigas wold be interested in to keep him at Arsnal which would help thje club get titles.
This is a reason why Fabrigas is leaving because the club is just focusing on its economic and financial gains without considering the players wishes like cups after seein clubs like manc, totenham and vill ready 2 compete yet some players know they cant keep there best form to 30years.
So promise Fabrigas that u a buying not 4 players but even 6 and world class.just look at our injury prone players and our bench.

Then if the boy refuses just demand 55m pounds,or 35 plus yaya, bojan hleb and other wards get players plus cash or benefit heavly from the deal not the 40m i have been haring of.u can even decide 2 include in Ibrahivomic because its about paying his salary or even sell him off after a season or the deal

Regarding the transfer romours: AW did promise to get few new players before the World Cup; we still have about 20 more days. Lets be patient and see who the players are; I’m sure AW won’t disappoint us this time. “In Arsene We Trust” come on and get us the right players!!!!

    Up with the Gunners!!

Afternoon Fab4, Stepane Mbia does look the real deal but, the main stumbling block now is that
we have all been speaking about it and want this move to happen the media have come out and said this needs to happen so this means
that Wenger will get on his “Personal Issue” Horse and not buy because it won’t be secret anymore. Or Wenger will be told he needs to pay 16million
and offer 15 and a half million. Then the deal will fall through (Sound familiar?).

For me there’s no comparison with The Great Patrick V cos Mbia is a different player more of a modern day Gilberto.
It would be great if he came then Diaby can do what he does best and when he does lose the ball at least we will have somebody there to win it back
without giving away free kicks outside the box as Song does all too often.

I’m not saying get rid of Song but, we do need a seasoned pro like Mbia and Song will learn from him but, I for one have been here many times
only to be led up the garden path by Wenger so until I see him in a press conference in London I’m keeping it on a low low.

Looking back at our last five years, you can see that the first 3 were transitional years. We can really say that we have won nothing in 2 years now; however, we can obviuosly see that we are up to somethgn really good. We had a magnificent start to ur season. that was interupted by the unlucky injuries. With our first team fit, we could have also beaten Barcelona. Next year will be an important one. Everyone has something to prove. Arsene; wether he like it or not, will have to spend. If he wants to keep Cesc, he will spend, and if he sells Cesc, he will have to spend as well. He is looking for a new Defensive Midfielder,a dn honestly he will not buy an African. Which means he will loose two players in the same position during the CAN. His next move is to have one attacking midfielder with 2 defensive. IT is time to sell Denilson and maybe Diaby if a proper player is bought in his place. I think that Diaby willhave a good year next season if he stays put. Teh guy has huge potential but is so lazy. In defense i can see only one addition made along Djouro, Campbell, and TV. That would be enough considering having cover in song and the upcoming youth. The position that i am mostly concerned about is the wings. We have no natural winger in the Pires Mould. This is the position that we should work on.

Hi Goonerton, I’m sure Arsene knows how the fans are feeling, it’s now just a case of him doing the right thing not only for Arsenal FC, but for the fans as well. I feel this is a big summer for Wenger, if he doesn’t make the right moves he’ll lose the majority of the fans.
